I've got both. A high end MB Pro that I mostly use when working remotely, but have it hooked up to a big monitor at home, along with the PC I recently built.

Cool thing - Logitech's MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse have this software called Flow. I can drag my mouse from my PC to Mac and the keyboard automatically picks up between the two OS. You can also copy files and stuff from one to the other natively.

I just got that keyboard/mouse combo along with a 2TB ssd as an upgrade to what I have, instead of a new build. I'm happy with them, and the features are useful.

I had a Mac. It was inferior if you weren't using it for video editing.
PFFFTTTTT.

There are millions of people, like my wife that love the simplicity of the Mac compared to Windows. Even though she is a brilliant author with advanced degrees she is terrible with technology. Without me she would have to marry someone from the Geek Squad to have a working computer. Apple has always been easier to use and products and software. Everyone doesnt work in the IT industry

I got the Ryzen 5 5600x because it's a major upgrade over what I have now and it had a coupon code for a pretty good deal.
But thinking about it, I might just send it back and spend the extra $85for the Ryzen 7 3800x.

HEY DOES ANYONE KNOW why when I game my monitor will lose signal and the case fans speed up?

THANKS

@nvanprooyen @ytsejam

Could be drivers issues. may need to check those. possibly a bad PSU. check to see if gpu is fully seated. cpu or gpu may also need new thermal paste..

I don't know. The 5600x looks better for gaming.
I'm not running a workstation even though I run stuff through Audacity or whatever now and then.
I don't think I really need the extra cores to play Team Fortress 2 and unzip titty pix.

I'm not talking about simplicity. I'm sorry that some morons aren't able to handle the intricacies of Windows (/s). Apple products are ripoffs for what they give you. I've had a Mac and an iPhone. Mac was great for editing, not much else. iPhone is an expensive camera. That's all.

You think understanding windows is a life changing skill? Computer techs are a dime a dozen and low on the food chain

No, that's why I was making fun of you for talking about how much simpler Mac's are for your fake wife. Derp.

I'm getting fancy RGB stuff too because I can and it's cool.
And even cooler when/if I get the chance to trip balls.

What's the point of having a PC if it doesn't breathe?

theyll game fairly similar. their differences will be so close in most titles it might as well be a margin of error. if you game/stream on a single setup the 5600x will suffice on most titles.. workstation apps 5800x>

also when you sell it in the future, a scab like me will pass on the 5600x and will buy that 5800x

This made me go price Ryzen shit.

Theres some Price to Performance out there if you buy used.

Taobao - Asus b450 mk $30, 16GB DDR 4 $30 ish, i forget the speed
Aliexpress 1800x $140
Ebay 3700x $180-200

oh and rgb fans $2.50 a piece on taobao to go with a $4.50 hub

Im sure you could find a random deal here ort here thats comparable or better but everyday 2 hundo for that 1800x , mobo, ram wouldnt be too bad.. wish i needed an upgrade.

tried talking myself into buying into ryzen yesterday but it doesnt make sense atm. had shit in the cart

found a new tuf gaming b450 for 40 bucks and 32 gb 2400 ddr4 for 80 on taobao. was going to buy that 1800x off ali...

however vs synthetics my xeon 1650v2 is similar enough in performance scores to the x1800. my xeon launched 8 years ago and is still capable @ 6 cores / 12 threads @ 3.5 - 3.9 ghz turbo. have oc'd it to 4.1 stable in the past but dont need to. the 8/16 x1800 is a little faster in areas but isnt slaying me to a point where im like.. damn my youtubing is gonna be better.

if i was still into workstation loads maybe.. however i still have a slow dual core xeon rig in the garage for that.. dual 3.5ghz 6/12s for 12 cores / 24 threads.. can still crunch things but is slow compared to todays standards. not really power efficient either.. and limited instruction sets.

I would need start to at a x2700 and up... but even there im only seeing increases @ 10% in single and 20% in multi and thats against a chip with two more cores. the x3700 starts to make sense to me though.. a Ryzen 5 3600 would make some sense if i wanted to keep same core count and get a 20% boost in speed @base clocks.. my chip is comparable to the ryzen 5 2600... also my cpu can be had for 30ish bucks these days on ebay.. P2P... a 30 dollar ryzen 2600

I mean i also have 32 gigs of 1866 ddr3 in quad channel, thats comparable to slower ddr4 in dual channel. once the x3700 hits $1-125, then maybe ill jump..

unless my family needs an update to their rig... hmmm..

went looking to upgrade the family tv and ended up ordering a ryzen bundle. place had a couple of Ryzen 3600 tray versions with a motherboard and ram for cheap and i thought about it but passed..

thought id ask the guy if they had any ryzen 7 deals just to see.. he found one tray 3700x with wraith cooler still sitting at their warehouse and bundled that with with the same mobo/ram they were packaging their 3600s with. not that ill use the cooler, but its a nice touch

Decent mid teir board for OCing from what ive read.. yeah i was that guy reading up on it in the store....its an ASRock AM4 B550 PG Velocita Motherboard. use to be in the 200's at one point according to guy but ppl kept returning them due to the fact that the bios needs updated for ryzen 5000 series.. and if you didnt have an older ryzen cpu you were SOL. You could have bothered amd, i think they do loaner cpus.. but ppl said f that...

im not really looking to oc the 3700x but when i upgrade to 5000 whatever and give this CPU to the family rig, i will be

I dont know much about team elite, but they threw in 32 GB (4x8) of 3200 too

so

Ryzen 3700x (8 core/12 Thread @ 3.6-4.4 GHZ @ 65W)
ASRock AM4 B550 PG Velocita Motherboard
32 GB 3200

$375

he had to order it, so i wont have it til next week.. idk when ill get around to it.. will see it if posts then might wait til easter holidays to back up/transfers etc...

I think its decent for 375, but its kind of a waste considering my rig is still breathing and has several years of quality computing left in it...hopefully it doesnt go to my xeon graveyard and i sell the cpu/mobo/ram for at least a hundo.. 275 sounds better.

will have to upgrade my case at some point, so theres another cost.. i want front panel usb 3.2 and USB C.. havent looked to see if i can just buy 20 pin or whatever usb 3.2 cables and mod it.. i know they sale 3.0 ones

been on older used xeons (x58/79) for a decade.. will be nice getting some of the newer instruction sets and features for a change though. last time ive been this close to current.... dude, sold me a dell..... which i quickly sold to another dude, before building my own..

more u dont care, tl;dr from me..

rather than sell my current shit, im gonna pass it on to the family and upgrade other shit.. im a bit erratic and could upgrade to 5xxx next week, but the plan is to use it for at least 2 years... then ill pass it and give them 4-5+ years with it.. the fam is on a xeon e3 1240v2 atm.. its still decent enough for what they use it for.. its 4 core 8 thread @ 3.4-3.8 ghz.. the e5 1650v2 will be a nice upgrade for a bit..

why doess nearly evertyhing gotta be RGBling. Been awhile since i looked at new components, but theyve gone mad with the rgb. it was bad a couple of years ago, but now it just seems standard on almost everything.

looking at new cases but i cant find anything in my range im willing to pay expect the fractal mesify S2. the 2 and xl models are better but i dont feel like spending 200 ish for a case when i can get an open box S2 for under a hundo. dont really care for the front polygon looking mesh and would replace that with some custom mesh.. S2 is an e-atx like the 2 and X, just not as big as the XL. i would prefer the XL for modding ideas floating in the head.. S2 is good enough.. plent of room for multiple SSD and HDDs

doubt i ever get another eatx board, but im keeping my options open in case i jump back to a dual x99 once those v4+ xeons become cheap . however with am5 and ryzen 7000 coming, i doubt i go back..the xeon P2P factor ended with x79 for me cause used amd 3xxx filling the market makes more sense. if used x99 v4s were better priced for my liking that would be a different story... regardless ,the case is large enough to give me mod options if i get around to being creative.

a drawback is the fractal meshify are not 3.2 but it does have a 3.1 type C. may add extra 3.2 on the backside..

found some cases with 3.2 usb 3 and Type C from MSI, but their line up is too blinged out for me and one of the models looks like an animal.. its like the vamperic case design was inspired by a corgi

msi, your case has nice feet...dog..

shopping

gonna be adding m.2 nvme gen4 and gen v3 too.. that mobo im getting has a gen 4 slot, the other is gen 3....i do use a M.2 sata on my current board, and it would still be okay for the os, but will pass that along.. will use gen 4 slot for most used apps.. gen 3 will be os.

will be reusing my two SSDs and HDD.. do want to add another HHD though.. at least 1 7200rpm, 10TB or larger.. dont need it atm though... my SSDs are only 120gb each, so i could replace them.. with game sizes these days i might need to sooner rather than laterc though.. as is, the game im playing most will be on nvme, play often on ssds and bulk library on hdds.. hate downloading and removing.. rather just have a big library on hdds and move them around to other drives when/if needed...

new mobo also has M.2 wifi/bt slot .. will pick one up at some point to free up a pci slot..

probably gonna upgrade my psu too... see these new mobos have that 8 and 4 cpu connectors.. current psu has been great, and is poweful enough at 600w for 3700x/RTX2060 and shit..... but only one eps connector.. can get by without connecting to the 4 port, but when i start to OC it, ill need it... looking at getting semi or full modular too..

debating cooler upgrade.. use a hyper d92.. its been good. dont see it for sale these days.. idk y.. my temps even at oc have been solid... the hyper 212x looks like it.. maybe they just rebranded d92 as the 212x... doubt i look into an aio. but those lcd screens with the temps man.... gotta know the temps....

.. idk..my rtx and mobo have rgb on it....so im either going to avoid rgbling as much as possible or mock it and go hard.. if i go hard.. fans, strips some radiated looking cooler etc.. could build some glowing loop..

I bought the Meshify 2 in white and I love it. Is a little pricey though, but I like the way it looks.
