I think we still had a chance with a better games plan and not panicking. We started with a 7 point cushion. The Colts adjusted before the game for the conditions and we played like it was a bright Sunny day. Reaction time in slop is poor and giving guys more room than usual to make plays when you're trailing was a mind **** for us fans. 3 yard dumps turn into 7 yard gains. No run support also means that the line may stop a guy for 2 yards but that 3-4 yard gain that uses LB help turns into twice that and first downs. As long as you give it to a patient QB like Manning, he's going to take it and in those conditions throwing short is exponentially easier. Of course we continue to throw long, stop running the ball, give them anything they want to do under 7 yards and play ourselves against the clock. Not saying it's something to brag about, but anyone who thinks the Bears would've won that game with Griese/Orton is completely fooling themselves. We would've ripped the Colts a new asshole if Brown and Harris had played. We may have survived Brown being out with Harris still playing at the level he was playing at. The two of them out, however, basically led to the Bears' demise, regardless of who was QB.
I still agree with what your saying overall because even if Griese goes in there and does his I can't hear Turner 2 minute drill, the D was still not going to hold Indy if they needed another score unless we adjusted.
