My favorite teams
This team as constructed already has a timer on it. In four years its best players will be in their 30s or close to it. Garrett isnt falling off a cliff unless he gets injured and that could happen to Parsons just as easily. That's a real possibility, or it may take him more than 1 season to get the O to be competitive. Trading 2 1st round picks for a HoF DE that turns 30 during the upcoming season puts an artificial timer on BJ turning the O around basically now, which I think is an expectation based on hype if we dont even have a single snap in '25 to see how close they are. No doubt Garrett upgrades the D as I mention multiple times in my post, but I've heard "theres no way the next coach cant fix the O, the biggest issue was Nagy/Getsy/Waldron/etc." and yet here we are. Just my opinion, but I think its a different conversation for a younger stud pass rusher (like Parsons) or if we're talking about a midseason trade for Garrett after watching a few games and the O is as good as advertised.
This should not be some slow steady rebuild where we play wait and see if the QB can play before we make a splash move imo.
I have complete confidence that Caleb will be at minimum a competent QB, that DJ and Rome will be good if not great receivers, and that Kmet and Swift can be at least average skill players.
Everything else depends on coaching, and the general manager being able to not be completely inept at finding offensive line help.
I like the odds and if they cant, we're screwed even if they don't trade for Garrett.
