I agree we're mostly quibbling over semantics at this point, Rick.

Only one team can win the dance, the other teams fail...I've always been a believer in that kind of philosophy where if you don't win the title, the season was a failure.

I'm not saying you shouldn't reflect optimistically on the positive things that happened in a season where your team may have fallen short. If you know that the organization is heading in the right direction and building the team up, to me that's an effort to turn the failure into success.

That's just the way I look at it.

I wonder what the reaction would've been if a Cubs player left the game yesterday b/c "he was hot" when the other 17 starters stayed out there...ESPN probably would've talked about how "that's why they're the lovable losers" instead of, "Wow, it was really scary when Doc bent over to catch his breath."

**** espn.

Come on we all know if it was Reed Johnson that went down due to heat we would have heard about how much of a gamer he is...

I agree X though with what was said about Halladay. Just compare it to what was said the various times Zambrano had to leave a game due to cramping.

Cliff Lee is standing on the mound trembling in fear of this Cubs offense. Hopefully he can stay out there and do his job anyway unlike Halladay who got run out of town.

Yeah, no lie.

Tim Kirkjian (whom is one of my favorite baseball guys on ESPN) said today that he was surprised Halladay left the game b/c "he is not only one of the most in-shape pitchers, he's one of the most in-shape athletes in the country..."

gtfoutta here w/ that shit. He then made some reference about how Halladay was at the ballpark 4 hours before a game swimming in a pool and how it is a testament to his workout mentality.

That dude's balls are sucked as bad as Waldo's would be by EYT if Castro wasn't gonna commit 30+ errors this season.
