You've never seen a flat playoff crowd? LOL

How then do teams that lose fights on the road win games?

Again:

Just admit you like watching guys punch each other and move on.

Just admit you're a giant fucking pussy and move on

Sometimes I start fistfights in my office at work to get everyone riled up.... if it works in an office in downtown Chicago I am pretty sure it is a valid motivational tactic on a hockey bench....

Players on the team know it's their role. Or something they can do to contribute to the game. There's times where we'd be on a long road trip and half way through/towards the end of the trip no one has their legs. You can get that feel or sense on the bench. Not much talk or any chatter just isn't working. In order to get engaged in the game I'd start on the other team. Talking a bit to get them talking back. Tempers flare and a fight happens. Whether I'd win or lose wouldn't matter as much, but a team mate of mine (or if I had a team mate do this) I'd feel that if he's willing to jump in and mix it up - I'd owe it to him to pick my game up as well. A bit of a wake up call. Winning or losing the game may not have an effect on a fight but it's more of a matter of bringing up the team's compete level. It's definitely a team/dressing room thing that bonds/boosts a bit of adrenaline that's looked at to get a team on the edge thats needed to compete at a high level

Don't listen to him. It's not like he has any REAL experience as a former professional hockey player or anything!

I think I'll take FirstTimers opinion on this one.

LOLWUT?

I never said any of the things you posted LOLOLOLOL

And I do like watching dudes punch eachother, I never claimed otherwise.... I am a fan of combat sports too.

You are building the Strawman that "hockey fights can contribute to motivation in a game" = "hockey fights make you win/lose a hockey game".... I expect much better from you FT.... I used to look up to you like my troll mentor....

Here's a fun one.... the crowd support is constantly remarked by players as giving them a boost.... more energy and whatnot.... sometimes a fight or a big hit gets the crowd's attention.... the crowd support then helps spur on the home team.

I would posit a fight for such a purpose is not necessary in the playoffs because people are already engaged in the game because its the playoffs.

In the regular season on the other hand....

FT you get so muddy when people disagree with you

But players stay stupid shit all the time.

Unless you got some stats bro I humbly suggest you stop antagonizing other users with tangential arguments.

I already mentioned this. Not that it's relevant.

It's relevant because you have no first hand experience one way or the other to tell stupid athletes that live the life how they should or shouldn't feel

But...you're irrelevant and at 8:50am I've dealt with enough stupidity for the day already. Good riddance

Ok cool.

"hockey fights can contribute to motivation in a game" = "hockey fights make you win/lose a hockey game

LOL, what the hell else would that motivation lead to?

Charlie Conway: "Great fight guys! We are all feeling super motivated now!"

Team: "YEAH!"

Conway: "What should we do with this motivation guys?! What should we use it for?!"

Team: *confused looks and shrugs* "Maybe, like pizza after the game"

Conway: "SOUNDS GREAT!"

So in a game where being competitive matters, you'd need somebody else to get the shit kicked out of them in order to be more competitive?

I've played, coached, and been involved with athletics for the last 25 years of my life.

Fighting in hockey(or any non combat sport for that matter) is stupid and serves no purpose.

I already mentioned this. Not that it's relevant.

There are big differences between Peewee hockey and minors and AHL and NHL. In Peewee hockey fights I don't think people get as pumped in the crowd and the players are probably not doing enough damage to really rally things together. In the NHL crowds get louder and players have attested to there being an impact on their play. Not sure if Peewee players delve into that sort of conversation because they are more focused on learning their craft. Just my observations, not trying to make you more mad.

Sometimes. It's not as much as "getting the shit kicked out of him" as it is engaging physically in the game

Cool, so shouldn't fighting in the playoffs be a lot more common if it's so impactful?

Again, athletes say stupid shit all the time.
