What happens when someone who actually played professional hockey tells FT that fighting does more than what he says it does?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
Momentum as it relates to fighting is an unproven theory I never mentioned in this thread.
That's fine, but wouldn't it make more sense to get in done right away? If the play was so egregious, why wouldn't it be necessary to take care of it right away?

Then I tell them they are wrong and there's zero evidence to support their claim.

It's actually not. It's 100% bullshit.

Wouldn't being more engaged help a team perform better and win?

LOL at you trying to dance around this.

Just admit you like watching guys punch each other and move on.

Like it? Sure, it can be entertaining as far as watching. But as been a part of it, I know for a fact it's had it's benefits. Not sure when/where you played where it appalled you but maybe you had a different playing experience than I had

So let me ask you an honest question: when your team came out flat, how was it decided who would get into a fight? How do you decide when it happens? What happens when your guy lost the fight - did you then go on to also lose the game?

EDIT: My apologies. A couple of questions.

Just to be clear, according to Shart, fighting has it's benefits. Yet NHL teams completely disregard these benefits during the most important games of the year.

Got it.

You realize you've just described a massive amount of people in very well paying jobs called "engineers" and "architects" right?

Here's a fun one.... the crowd support is constantly remarked by players as giving them a boost.... more energy and whatnot.... sometimes a fight or a big hit gets the crowd's attention.... the crowd support then helps spur on the home team.

I would posit a fight for such a purpose is not necessary in the playoffs because people are already engaged in the game because its the playoffs.

In the regular season on the other hand....

FT you get so muddy when people disagree with you

EDIT: My apologies. A couple of questions.

Players on the team know it's their role. Or something they can do to contribute to the game. There's times where we'd be on a long road trip and half way through/towards the end of the trip no one has their legs. You can get that feel or sense on the bench. Not much talk or any chatter just isn't working. In order to get engaged in the game I'd start on the other team. Talking a bit to get them talking back. Tempers flare and a fight happens. Whether I'd win or lose wouldn't matter as much, but a team mate of mine (or if I had a team mate do this) I'd feel that if he's willing to jump in and mix it up - I'd owe it to him to pick my game up as well. A bit of a wake up call. Winning or losing the game may not have an effect on a fight but it's more of a matter of bringing up the team's compete level. It's definitely a team/dressing room thing that bonds/boosts a bit of adrenaline that's looked at to get a team on the edge thats needed to compete at a high level

You've never seen a flat playoff crowd? LOL

How then do teams that lose fights on the road win games?

Again:
