My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Illinois Fighting Illini
Considering Rizzo is 27 and has improved every year. His OPS is higher than in the past. High mark for HR's was 32 so he should break that making him a 30 HR guy 3 years in a row. OBA over .380 3 years running. Bryant has eclipsed Rizzo's highest ever SO total of 127 already. That was the year he hit .233.

Bryant has an insane BABIP running. .340. Rizzo .309 which is closer to the league avg
I'll take both Rizzo and Bryant for $500, Alex.

And the team sucked at that point.

Talent increases the chances to win.

Winning makes players happier.

Happier players creates better lockeroom environments.

They were improving. Talent did increase but there was no talk of locker room issues during 2014 IIRC.

Bryants BABIP isnt luck. He makes more hard contact than Rizzo. He makes over 7% more hard contact than Rizzo this year. He actually had a much higher BABIP last year than this year. Bryant was always considered to have a higher BABIP because of his hard contact. Bryant had a BABIP is .378 last year. He is going to keep a higher babip in the league. But, Bryant also isnt as streaky as a hitter as Rizzo can be. They all go through slumps, but Bryants are becoming shorter every year. Rizzo will still have bouts with it. Rizzo is a hell of a hitter that is a tremendously tough out esepcially when he bears down. That would be the only edge I give Rizzo though and I feel like Bryant is working on that as we speak.

You look at the 20 games after the break and the month of Sept and I think you will see that Bryant may be having shorter streaks but he's still worse streak wise than Rizzo.

I never said it was lucky. I said amazing. It counters his high strike out rate.

I look at the whole package normally and BB:SO is a part of it. BB they are very close right now. Bryant is out pacing in SO's. Bryant can plain smash the ball. Rizzo is more of a control hitter with HR's as a bonus.

They are both great players for sure. I'll bet you if you asked either that question they would point to the other.

I was thinking: if healthy, I'd only go with six bullpen arms + Hammel and have as many bats and abilities to matchup with other teams. So that would mean something like

C - Montero, Ross, Contreras
IF - Rizzo, Baez, Zobrist, Lastella, Bryant, Russell
OF - Heyward, Coghlan, Soler, Fowler, Szczur

SP - Lester, Arrieta, Lackey, Hendricks
RP - Strop, Grimm, Rondon, Edwards, Chapman
Long - Hammel, Cahill

I'm fine with that 25 man.

Montero should be on the roster. What happens if Contreras gets hurt? The guy hasn't hit shit but he seems to always get the big hit when we really need it. Remember the Pirates series? Huge hit in the 13th to win it.

So what constitutes success for the Cubs in the playoffs? Is it WS or bust? Or at least make it to the WS?

I think its the pennant. We haven't won one in over 60 years. To be honest I don't really care about the WS. Win to lose the season would be a HUGE success if we win the pennant.

I agree. Bryant is the best player on the team. He is hitting .302 with a .972 OPS, 37 HR, 92 RBIs. The guy can play multiple positions and play them well. He is the best athlete on the team. Rizzo and Russell aren't far behind though.
