Yes he did go after some and only was able to get one to agree to his price. All others got better deals elsewhere. What’s your point here?

I agree poles will hopefully get a few studs this offseason. But people are predicting he goes crazy and signs a bunch of top tier players which isn’t happening. They are going to be looking for 4+ year deals which Poles likely wiling be giving out to more than maybe 2-3 players max.

People also need to realize that 2 of the 3 wins the bears have were very “lose-able” games, including one at home against the fucking Texans where they got a late int from a player that’s no longer on the team and needed a last second FG to win.
My point is, between FA and draft, there is absolutely no reason why the Bears (with Justin Fields as QB1) can't be in the playoffs in the next 2 years. The bar to simply get into the playoffs isn't as high as you seem to think nor is the distance to go from a decent offense to a very good one and from a crap defense to a competent one.

I think the bears have a chance to be in the playoffs in 2 years. Not next year and it’s because I think poles is going to spend the min this offseason in FA and his first draft will only have only added one legit difference maker (brisker).

So a lot depends on the 2023 draft where he has a legit 1st round pick. And while I agree Brisker is the only difference maker he drafted last year, he got a couple others that should be solid enough for now and was hampered by a pretty awful going in draft pick situation.

Why do you think that Poles will spend the MINIMUM in free agency? This defies logic to me. They need major help on both sides of the ball, particularly on defense. I think that they can find very affordable good free agent players in free agency to fix the line backer and pass rushing problems as well as replacements for our weak pass receiving cadre.

Here's the thing. Poles is a GM. He has to think beyond next season. He wants to do his job long term. Did you know that there will be other contracts to consider beyond 2023?

Hope this helps.
