Also, Blackhawks don't need a coach. Between the 10 guys at Johnny's they should be able to run the PP.

Taken out of context 100% and not even close to my implied suggestions. So yea...

Then make actual suggestions instead of saying "The guys at Johnny's can run the powerplay the Blackhawks are" And that success falls upon the players alone for the powerplay.

Did you not see my suggestions when I described what I believe the players are doing wrong? How many times do people have to repeat themselves around here?

A joke of a thread.

Make actual suggestions? When I do...read them.

Then explain to me what the coaches are doing wrong and what the players are doing right. I can certainly tell you what the players are doing wrong on the powerplay, the coaches...hard to say. It is a simple powerplay. The Blackhawks set up in an umbrella (when they can actually get the puck in or retrieve it) and then just aren't crisp with their passes, don't get enough traffic to the net, and don't get enough pucks to the net. How is that the coaches fault? It just isn't.

By the way, watched NHL36 with Richards earlier today and they had a video session with Kompon going over the PP. Wasn't rocket science...

You telling someone to read is pretty comical...:andruw:

I think we all know what's missing from the PP....

That said, I'll give the coaches a ton of credit for the attitude on PK.

It might not be rocket science but there are some things that rarely happen during a Hawk PP. They don't switch as much as a lot of teams. They dont create a lot of motion. They usually setup with Kane down low looking for cross crease 1-timers. They dont have a boomer at point so they rely on Keith to get shots thru which doesnt happen much...he handles the puck well but his shot is pretty underwhelming. They need to switch and move, rotate the point men....cause some confusion in the other team's box. Detroit does this real well but they lack the skills that the Hawks have. If you dont have that booming shot from the point that gets thru, causing havoc in front of the goalie is useless. You have to try other things, a theory that is lost on this coaching staff.

Fire Kompon over the summer. The guy sucks. There's a reason why LA let him go.

How many people wanted Kitchen fired this past offseason? Did he somehow become some special teams specialist over the summer? Nope...defense added new guys and got better, Crawford and Emery stepped up big, and Kruger/Frolik both developed as players. All the players on that one as the Blackhawks aren't doing anything earth shattering on the PK as they apply pressure and set up in a simple box.

If people think that Q, Kitchen, Scotty, and Smith are going to sit by while Kompon is the reason why the PP sucks, then you are out of your mind. Every one of those guys has input and they wouldn't let him run it into the ground. The Blackhawks can't enter the zone whether it be dump and chase or carrying it in. The Blackhawks can't set up successfully to get opportunities once in the zone. Finally, the Blackhawks don't have enough traffic and can't get enough pucks to the net to capitalize on opportunities. This is on the players, pretty easy.

So then the Blackhawks would be off with 10 guys from Johnny's to run the power play?

It's pretty pointless to blame Kompon since the PP was worse last year.

But after that to 5-3 situation.. It's pretty clear the coaching and designing of the unit is underwhelming.

Lol, that was the worst experiment ever and it was visible that it would come for weeks before they actually tried it.
