Does this "fake cop" thing happen a lot up by you?

Gangs used to do it as an initiation for new members. IDK if it still happens, but you don't need a gang to organize this type of initiation for any asshole to go ahead and do it.

I believe the Illinois law regarding unmarked cars is "We will mark or not mark cars however we want and you can stfu"

You never know what kind of car they’ll use either. I saw a PT Cruiser with red and blue lights flashing one time. It was at an accident scene with a bunch of regular cop cars.

How exactly do you bait someone into racing you?

I guess I should've known you'd ask this question. People don't try to race all white vans with no windows.

Could have been a volunteer firefighter. I know many that have emergency lights in their personal cars, and they also have EMT training, carry some basic equipment with them. etc

Still how is 911 going to help? 'Sit tight and we'll send someone [in an hour or so in chicago]' by which time the fake cop has already murdered you or whatever.

Hey, at least they answer in Illinois. I tried calling 911 in California and never got through!

Haha I like that. But seriously, how does one bait you into racing? If they're behind you, they move into another lane, zoom up ahead to you, flip you the bird, speed ahead and cut you off? Then you feel the need to reciprocate and it turns into an all out Fast & Furious street race? You need to control your emotions friend.

You as the citizen are the one in power. The police are here to protect, not to control us. Holding police accountable is a must by all citizens. Just because someone is arrested doesn't make then wrong. Many times the police are wrong and we as a society don't hold those corrupt police accountable instead we treat them like the NFL treats refs!

I could say the same about the President of the U.S. He is here to serve and protect American citizens. But I'd like to see you go up to the White House and try to have a sit down with Obama.

I'm surprised that cop even allowed Seim to talk to him. I would have simply drove off and flipped Seim the bird.

Imagine if Seim was a black dude anywhere around the rougher neighborhoods on the south side of Chicago.... lmao I am sure if you try to citizen arrest/pull over a Chicago Cop it would go real well.

In the last Terminator movie that had Arnold.... da bad terminator drove a number of real emergency vehicles remotely.... I think that is the kind of threat we need to be overreacting to TBH

LOL, I don't get caught up in it, but basically they'll come next to you at a red light and start revving the engine and such. Or, on the expressway, they'll pull up next to you, ride at the same speed, then pull ahead real quick. If you don't jump at the chance, they'll slow down next to you and do it again. Have you seriously never had anyone try to race you? Or you never try to get anyone to race? Do you even drive bro?

Not that I know of but isn't it the premise of the thread? How not to get pulled over by someone masquerading as a cop?

I thought it was about some whiny little political **** wasting an officers time... but yes, the law he's spouting off about was supposedly put into place to help prevent fake cop rapes, murders &/or whatever.

Keeping in mind that all the law requires is that vehicles have contrasting letters identifying the operating agency's name. In one and one-half inch letters on the left and right side of the vehicle... that you wouldn't be able to see if said vehicle was behind you anyway.

This (people being pulled over by fake cops) actually happens from time to time out here in Colorado. People have been killed as well. It seems like every year one happens and they tell you how to avoid it. The two main things I remember are: 1) drive to a well lit, public place before pulling over (Im sure that goes over really well if its a real cop). and 2) call 911 to have them confirm with dispatch that it is a real officer. If they say "no, its not" get the hell out of there.

All cars should be marked, unless its detectives or specialized units....those guys usually call out for a marked units to conduct the stop, then approach after the fully marked patrol car and officer, has made contact with driver...at least here we do. Also our traffic cars(mustangs, cameros, etc.) all have the markings on the front windshield and on the doors.....no markings like that one, is completely ridiculous.

I have no interest in racing some 18 year old high school Vin Diesel wannabe who probably doesn't even pay his own car insurance.

And if you fall for that, and it turns out you're racing an unmarked cop car, you deserve whatever punishment comes your way.
