I think they would have been better off trading him at the trade deadline. I think hey could have got more if he stayed healthy and put up ok numbers.

Moving Quentin was inevitable. They had to clear room for Viciedo, and the market for him wasn't too hot. I liked Quentin and wanted him to stay, despite the fact that he's streaky as hell. A better haul would have been nice, but, it is what it is.

can't say i'm too bummed about this. He's a head case, injury prone, and a horrible outfielder with a UZR of -24.3 in 2010 and 0.6 in 2011, has no arm, and has no concept of the cut-off man.

And if he had any fantasy value, it just disappeared unless your league scores OBP: he just went to a very pitcher-friendly park.

But the bigger question is, what the hell is Kenny Williams doing? Rebuilding? Not rebuilding? Let go of Santos? Lets Buehrle leave? Resigns Danks? WTF is happening?

He's acquired a lot of pitchers in these deals, so maybe he's trying to rebuild that?

Trying to figure out KW makes my head numb.

Also: Quentin usually had a pretty good OBP, but he is streak as hell (but when he was on, he could carry the Sox), but he was injury prone and his defense was pretty bad. Overall, if we could have kept him at a cheap rate that would have been solid, but again, there wasn't room for him.

Well said. I don't think he's rebuilding, personally, more or less just reloading.

Happy that this happened. He needed to be gone. No room for him on the team.

If he has too many pitchers and not enough spots in the rotation and bullpen for them, then some of them might be flipped for other useful players. *shrug*

I don't really know what the plan is either

There were too many outfielders and they're in half rebuild mode. They're trying to get prospects for their vets that they don't really want anymore. That's what this is about, I think.

Positive: We get to see the Tank finally.

Negative: Kenny is still employed.

FLEECED AGAIN! This makes me dislike Rios even more as he should've been the one gone not Q he could've been moved to LF and his bat could've been kept in the line up!

The issue is that other teams want Rios on their team as much as you want him on yours...

Perhaps I was remiss in my understanding of the White Sox dynamic but I thought Carlos Quentin was a defensive liability and most fans wanted him gone, so I figured this trade would be a good thing...?
