Perhaps I was remiss in my understanding of the White Sox dynamic but I thought Carlos Quentin was a defensive liability and most fans wanted him gone, so I figured this trade would be a good thing...?

His defense isn't a strength of his by any stretch and he is a streaky hitter, so I understand why many wanted him to be moved. I'm just frustrated that Rios is still here. I'd much rather see him gone, but due to salary that's not possible. It just sucks.

How much more is on his contract?

If he sucks that bad just release him. Or stick him on the bench.

3 years with a club option for 2015. He's set to make 36.5 million(about 12mil per) over the next 3 years.

Cubs might be willing to eat even more money to get rid of Soriano. Guess it depends on the White Sox's mood eh?

I don't think Kenny is in the mood to eat any money the way things have been going so far. Haha

Especially after going "All In" last year.

It would've been better if Rios was gone instead of Quentin, but nobody wants Rios. Teams actually want Quentin.

If Rios was dealt instead I could've tolerated Dunn n JP and I would've lived an OF of Quentin - LF, DeAza - CF, Viceido - RF Lillybridge 4th of on yea but instead I get KW's mistakes shoved down my throat! Yuk!

Nobody would take Rios. There was actually a return for Quentin.

Positive: We get to see the Tank finally.

Negative: Kenny is still employed.

still hating on KW? in his tenure what has he done that has been BAD?

Jake Peavy- bad ( but insured...smart move )Report: White Sox Have Insurance Policy For Peavy
Rios- horrible move
dunn- anyone who blames KW for this is a fucking moron. Those same people were sucking KWs balls when he was signed, and if you say you werent your a liar.
Swisher x2- what we gave up for him was bad, the return was bad. but a little side note, ozzie didnt like swisher.....that has been made public.....but lets forget about that.

If you say edwin jackson/hudson deal was this huge let down you are off your rocker. do you for 1 sec believe hudson would be a solid starter in the AL? please. We all know ejax was obtained to spin to the nats for dunn and it fell through....we still moved ejax and got prospects while at the same time dumping teahan.

lets look at some of the smarter moves too.

joe borchard for who? matt thornton...hows that working out?
chris carter for CQ than now moved for once a top 3 SD prospect.
finding aram
resigning PK
drafting sale
signing jesse crain
finding sergio santos
umm...oh yeah....brandon mccarthy for jon danks and nick masset. massett who was later moved for KG jr.
moving vasquez for a serviceable 4th outfielder/inf in lillibridge and catcher tyler flowers.
who is playing RF this year? oh yea, the tank

all gms make bad moves!

I did read up on them. Not too impressive. Good, but not great.

a once top 3 SD prospect along with another player for a guy who is arby eligiable that is a risk year in and year out to be hurt who cant field....il take that.

Which was nothing once again. If Kenny did this shit in Boston, his ass would've been canned already.

The man has become fucking clueless when it comes to trading.

?!

You guys just got two young pitchers back. Sure they're not super-elite but they're not that bad. You weren't going to get a ton back for Quentin.

Have you looked at their stats? One of them had a 9 something ERA in AAA and the other had a 6 something ERA in AA. That's not very good...

Yeah, that's true, but those are in less than 40 innings for both guys. Sounds to me like the White Sox think they see something they can fix. As an aggregate both guys have pretty good peripherals you can work with: keep the walks down, keep the ball in the park.

I'm not saying that they're bad. I said that they got a good return, but it's not like these are top of the line prospects.

Righto, you're not going to get those kinds of prospects for CQ anyway though.

First off bash KW for EJax all day. He failed miserably with him. But CQ is a severely injury prone player. With the Sox ability to maximize pitchers potential I think it's a fair deal both ways

I've always maintained that you should never hold onto injury prone players regardless of talent level.

I love quentin, but I have to stick to my guns and say this is for the best. I had issues with picking up Peavy for this exact reason. Time has proven my case.

Definitely. I don't really think that Quentin is injury prone though.

His first injury was him being stupid and hitting himself with a bat.

The other one or two weren't terrible. He needed to go regardless. Sox fans shouldn't be mad about this.
