So, today I put in my two weeks for my job. I have been fighting it for awhile. My mind kept telling me its time to move on but my hear was into this restaraunt. I watch it grow from nothing and almost belly up to solidifying itself. Well, this morning broke the Camels back. I go to school still. I had mid term at 4. I told them I was leaving at 2:45 to take it. That is 15 minutes before my shift truly ends. Well, we had a semi small part that consisted of finger sandwiches, fruit and cheese tray, Hummus and chips, and Salsa and chips. Well, all that was taken care of before I left. I also made our soup for about 3 days and my red gravy that I am the only one that makes it. The guy behind me had everything he needed that I always leave him with. Pans of fries, Salsa, all the sauces, soups, and plenty of other things. All he had to do was set up his line and get ready for dinner which he has 2 hours to do. Well, I left at 2:45 and I went over my notes. I read that if I didnt take the mid term at 4 then I can take it using proctor U before 11 PM on Thursday. So, after reviewing my notes I didnt feel comfortable taking it and decided to take it at a later date. Then, my buddy calls me up and was like you want to get a couple of beers. Im like **** it, Im already off. Lets get some brews. Well, this morning I get a text from the owner who lives in a different state right now telling me I cant be leaving early to go drink at a bar and if I am going to quit to just tell him and not go out like this other guy because I fucked over the guy behind me. Well, we had an exchange of text and explained everything that happened and then said **** it. Here is my two weeks. Now, he is pissed off with me because I have won a lot of money lately and he thinks the money changed me. No, its the ******* you have me dealing with everyday that instead of coming to me like a man and asking what happened went straight to you. I dont respect people like that. I believe I made the right decision, but he is acting like I am the prick now. The worst part is me and this dude became real good friends outside work. I showed my friends the text and they were like you did the right shit. Whats yall opinion?

If you weren't happy there, then it was a good move. If you are making a snap decision because you are pissed off, probably not the best course. The rational brain >>>> emotional reactions when it comes to stuff like that. Usually. IMHO anyways.

Your friends are supportive. That's good. But you should allow yourself(as well as your boss) some cool down time before ripping into each other.

Either way, good luck man. Hope your plan works out.

Well, I will say there is a lot more back story to it and this place is just a blip on the map. I could make more money going almost anywhere else but my heart for the place kept me there. But, I started losing the heart for it and the money isnt there. Ive told him for over a month to start looking for replacements because you know I wont be here forever. I cant simply for my career. He just blew it off. It was just the straw that broke the Camel's back and if I am not happy the money isnt enough to keep me there. Thanks for the support. My bro's are pretty honest and they told me awhile ago that I have outgrown the place.

Oh, and the half mod salary joke was hilarious. I will give it to a person when they got a good one.

if the place is standing in the way of your future, it was a good move, if you made this decision and are gonna take a step baclwards, you should tell your boss you were just trolling, and dislike the **** out of the haters that reported you.

Odd, there's almost never any turnover in restaurant kitchens.

So was this the move Crys said you had to make to become full mod?

if it's not a good fit, not a good fit. good luck breaux. hoping for the same for myself (not to jinx it) by end of week, but it was 9 years in the making (with plenty of ill-advised outbursts and a currently ongoing spell on job probation).
