While I hope he doesn't get it reduced, but looking at what some other guys got before him I would be appealing if I was him. I would also be a giant douchebag if I was him though...

Yes, that makes sense. The problem with Raffi's case is that precedent and other suspensions don't mean shit - I'm pretty sure Shanahan has said that publicly (albeit in a far more politically correct manner). The issue on whether or not they should is an issue worthwhile for debate and Shanahan's stance on this topic is a monster reason why players, organizations, and fans are fed up with the lack of consistency from Shanahan (since there isn't any). Campbell's term wasn't much different.

I read that part of the appeal has to do with all the preseason next season being included in addition to the 25 games.

That is kind of a weird grey area and the PA takes issues with it.

If there's a compromise that the league feels necessary to make, that may be the area.

Right.

But I really don't see Bettman budging. The fact that he's the arbitrator for appeals is hilarious.

Also, nice timing by the Hawks making Hossa available to the press via telephone today.

Agreed on all counts!

Also, the Coyotes are owns, owns by the league.

He stands to lose about half a million dollars. I don't blame him for appealing at all.

Still don't think it should matter.

Bump for

Update: According to sportsnet.ca Raffi Torres will meet with league officials Thursday to appeal his 25-game ban.

The forward was suspended during the Coyotes’ opening-round series after his hit to the head of Chicago’s Marian Hossa. The concern is not the suspension itself, but the length. It is the league’s longest since the Islanders Chris Simon received a 30-game sentence in 2007.
