As others have said, I don’t think Mitch will want to come back, even if Pace offered him a short-term deal. A lot of teams need a QB. If he doesn’t come back, expect Pace to trade up for another one if he isn’t fired. If they roll with Foles next year and win 3-5 games, he would be gone for sure.

That may be the case, but I highly doubt it. Other teams may want to pull a smokescreen, like Bears did with Glennon, but doubt Trubs will be bid up too high by those teams.

In the end money talks as does opportunity. Bears will be picking 18th or later and I doubt any QB picked that late will be a true threat to a starting QB. In the immediate future.

As usual, it will be a money + opportunity decision.

If he's given a chance to start and the money is similar....I think he leaves asap.

Not seeing many attractive options in FA

At best we'd get the 4th qb in the draft and likely someone NOT ready to play in year 1

A trade would have to be the way to go but I for one am sick of not having a full compliment of picks

Oh.....and zero interest in Nick Fools as the day 1 starter next season......use him where he shines...an in game heat check guy or a short term injury replacement (or a for a playoff run.,.....meaning; be ready today BDN)

The team chemistry Fox/Fangio were brought in to build is soured into everyone playing down to their talent.

After the likely L today, Im looking forward to a new coaching staff and QB.

With that said I’m pulling for Mitch more than anyone today. I hope he does something we’ve rarely seen before, like throw accurate passes on time...

It’s do or die!

Trubisky seems to respond well to nothing to lose type situations. So if may play his best ball come today.

"He has alot to prove to be Chicago's QB of the future. It starts today."

That's the same observation that everyone has known. Its not a revalation. Trubisky has to prove himself against good teams....duh. it doesn't mean he is unlikely to return. That is a different statement, insinuating if Mitch, barring a miraculous playoff performance, isn't coming back. I highly doubt that is the case and not what

How he plays today will dictate his value. He is probably fetching a 8-10 mil contract or less. If he plays well maybe he is bud up higher. I highly doubt though in any circumstance any team will value Mitch more than Chicago. And with the way Mitch has closed out the season, regardless how today goes, you don't walk away if the value is right.

Unless there is a new coaching staff, I don’t see Mitch wanting to return regardless. I’m getting Jacksonville vibes when they walked away from Bortles. Few years later they have Trevor Lawrence. That’s what the Bears need to do.

They probably will have no choice for 2021 but to bring back Mitch. Who they gonna go with? Foles who sucks and can't win a game? Are they gonna trade for a QB? Watson wants a trade but the Texans already said they are not trading him. Draft? Don't see that considering the tops prospects will be gone by the time the Bears pick. Lance and Trask will be available when the Bears pick but they are a work in progress, they would need to sit for a year or two. Nah, I think Mitch will be their best option in 2021.

Pretty terrified this is going to be the outcome.

On the bright side, Bears will win 3 games with Foles and get a nice high draft pick ?‍♂️
And if Pace/Nagy are brought back and Foles is the best plan they have, then it's a total reboot with a high pick. Sucks for next year, but not terrible for long term team building.

I think if everything stays the same they take another big swing at QB to save their jobs, and it won't be pretty.

Think about it, they do something stupid to get a Ryan/Carr/Stafford and are good enough to get to 9 or 10 wins and get to the playoffs again, they are both looking at extensions. I just threw up a little.

I’ll root for Mitch wherever he goes. Keeps his nose clean. Works hard. Says the right things. Just terrible GM/coaching during his time here.

Pace knows he’s not the long term answer he let him sit on the bench for six weeks

Is there another specific quote of what Rappaport said, or is this a personal interpretation of his words. From listening to this clip, he us just stating observations that his 5th year was declined and he was previously benched.

He also stated Trubisky has alot to prove and the Bears are not certain about his future or not set on him. That is different than saying he is unlikely to return.

Likely it just means that Trubisky is set to hit the free market and the Bears only value him so high. If the price is to high, they likely move on.. But in reality, they probably still value him more than any other team and will resign him.

well at least he's 1/3 of the way through learning Nagy's 5000 trick plays
