HBO has been showing the original Superman films lately I assume because of the doc. I ended up watching them as well. i vaguely remember seeing them as a kid. It was more my brothers thing. They’re decent. I don’t hold anything against films for being limited because of the time period they were made in. So it’s nothing like that.

But 10/10? Seriously? If Superman is a 10 then what is something like Citizen Kane? I can’t in good conscience put those two films in the same category.

I guess what I’m saying is I need you to be better. Stop willy nilly throwing around 10’s all generously and shit. Superman is a fine film. It’s not a 10/10 though. Superman and The Godfather don’t belong in the same category. It’s great for what it is, but it’s a popcorn superhero movie.
I would say one has to remember there are different types of films. The question is how well they did that type of film.

Citizen Kane is one of a favs. I think it's certainly one of the best dramas.

Drama, action, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, comedy, romance films have commonalities, but they have different goals in pleasing the audience.

Maybe you're bringing in the concept of comparative importance/significance? Superman78 and Kane could both tell their respective stories through the film media very well, but some critics just won't give a "comic book" movie high regard because of their 'critic status'. High praise is left for "serious films".

Captain America: Brave New World
6/10
That's probably about right. Although I'd go lower, like 5or4/10. It's a time waster with production value.

Endgame did a decent job to setup for Sam Wilson/Falcon to take the lead of being the next Captain America. I thought Sam was a good choice, except for not having super-serum powers, which they could have given him at some point.

The main problem with the film is the story and theme. Captain America is an anti-fascist and fighter for American liberty. The script doesn't have Sam espousing that. And the antagonist/villain is not particularly fascist or anti-liberty. A monumentally incorrect choice for the basic story.

True....and the movie was to long, around 2 hours. The visuals with Harrison Ford toward the end of the movie might have been the best part. I don't wanna spoil it for ppl who haven't seen it.

My son (age 25), who sees all Marvel movies and is a fan, thought it was one of the worst movies he has ever seen.

The Heretic 3/5. Hugh Grant makes a decent villain.

The Rule Of Jennie Pen 3/5. Lithgow kind of ruined it by mailing-in the accent.
