I watched two movies directed by women on international women's day.
Hurt locker: ****/*****
Wonder woman: */*****. I saw a bunch of positive reviews about how it was a uniquely feminist take on the action hero genre. But it was just bad.

Wonder woman was hard for me to judge-
the story was not great. supporting acting was not great.
... However, Gal Gadot was really good and I really enjoy how she plays the part and how her part is handled.
My biggest pet peeve for any woman action part is how they have to constantly act like a super mega badass. (looking at you, black widow, and you too Rhonda rousey in expendables 3)
You watch them do their thing, and you can see how hard they are trying to act badass and it just comes across as compensating for being female... trying to hard to project the image.
I didnt get that impression from Gal Gadot- she played it cool- Not too cool, but calm and collected with the right intensity in the right spots.
In the last season of Fargo there was a woman police chief that projected the same realistic self assurance that didnt boil over in to over the top ass kicking mode.
Jodie Fosters part in Elysium was powerful and not over the top.
It is hard to find a really well done woman action star- mostly because the direction for them is terrible.
Too bad the story for Wonder Woman was so "meh". Gadot plays the part well
