You know, I like movies for different reasons than a lot of people. I found it interesting and I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. They made it seem like he made the whole attack up and I was waiting for the conclusion to prove this. I thought that ship at the end was cool.
I admit, I like a lot of movies that get panned by critics. And I find oscar winning movies to be boring. I thought The Revenant should have won best picture. Never saw Spotlight but thought it would be boring. The only Oscar winning movie that I truly liked was Slumdog Millionaire. I think that was the best movie made in the last 10 years.
The Revenant was real good I thought.
With this movie though, I don't know why anyone would be on the edge of their seat. Howie was weird, yeah, but never seemed like he wanted to kill the heroin as much as control her. A lot of things were just silly and campy. Much of it was repetitive and just them sitting around with nothing, other than a slight mistrust for fat Dan Connor, to keep you even a little on edge. Guess the biggest thing would have been wondering what was going on outside for the hour and 30 minutes the movie just kept dragging on and on. But even Emmit really gave that away early on. When he said what he said you just got the feeling that was pretty much exactly what it would be cause there was no intelligent conversation going on. Everything being said was just to develop the characters and foreshadow what was to come in the short and downright silly climax.
Just felt like the main concern with this movie was to promote it heavily and disregard the weak script.
