I'll still take Reggie Miller anyday over Ray Allen to hit a three-pointer when it matters the most.

Reggie Miller also didn't have the fortune of playing on great teams like Ray Allen has.

They're both really good players who if they're your first option you're never going to be good enough. Ray Allen got to play in a situation where he didn't have to be the man, if Reggie was traded to a situation like that he'd have a ring too.

How could he already be that high up!? I thought he was at 2100 at the beginning of the year. Man time flies!

That's a LOT of 3's.

When Reggie Miller retired it seemed so impossible to break. Yet again though we see - records were made...

To be broken.

(Especially if it's an Air Supply record. Bada-doom)

Boston Celtics' Ray Allen hits 3 to break Reggie Miller's NBA record - ESPN Boston

I've loved Ray since his UConn days. He's truly one of the class acts in the NBA, even though he plays with the classless assclowns on the Celtics.

Congrats Ray-Ray on a remarkable milestone.

Congrats to Ray. When i go back home next week i might have to check out the old bedroom and dust off the old Seattle jersey out of respect.

It seems like people forget that Allen played in this league BEFORE he was on the Celtics.

Allen was the leading scorer & best player on a Bucks team that made it to the East Finals in 2001. He was by far the best player on those wildly mediocre Sonics teams in the mid 2000's. The guy was not always surrounded with talent.

Reggie played with Detlef Schrempf, Rick Smits, Mark Jackson, Chris Mullin (albeit the twilight of his career) Jalen Rose, Dale & Antonio Davis, & later on in his career, Jermaine O'Neal, Al Harrington, Ron Artest, & Brad Miller. I'd say Reggie had more talent around him for his entire career than Ray-Ray did. He just, like most other unfortunate stars of the 90's, had to play against the GOAT year in & year out.

Did anyone see him go over to Reggie Miller and hug him when the game stopped?

Knowing Reggie, I was expecting him to start choking Allen (or maybe head butt him) when he went in for the hug.

Yeah those Celtic fans acted like Ray spent his whole career in Boston, fn idiots.

Allen was the best player on the Sonics but Rashard Lewis was at his best in Seattle IMO.

As great as those Indiana Pacers teams were, the 2008 Boston Celtics were better equipped to win a championship than any of them.

Ray Allen has a prettier jump shot than Reggie Miller did, but I think Miller was more accurate in his precision. Ray Allen was the much more athletic scorer, but Reggie Miller was a much more tenacious defender.

And perhaps the most important of all--- Reggie Miller was one of the most clutch players ever. Ray Allen had some pretty terrible playoff series because of cold streaks.

Both of these guys were great team leaders once upon a time. Ray Allen led the Bucks to the ECF with Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson and Sam Cassell (in a pretty terrible Eastern Conference). And Reggie Miller led a team with Rik Smits, Dale Davis, Antonio Davis, Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson, Travis Best, and Jalen Rose (coached by Larry Bird) and nearly knocked out the 1998 Jordan-led Chicago Bulls in a 7-game war. Then Reggie got back to the Finals and took the 2000 L.A. Lakers to 6.

Both of these guys are remarkable players, but I would take Reggie over Ray Allen (both at their best). I'll even take 2004 Reggie Miller over 2011 Ray Allen.
