I didnt notice that, but I just didnt like the atmosphere or the people in general

Too many Prius drivers there for my taste...We rented a Ford Excursion, and got flack at the gas station from a couple people for driving a gas guzzler, not to mention we were asked to leave the big box store cause my pal wanted to put a cheap tool kit together for his daughter who was going to school there..He asked for some "Cheap Chinese hand tools", and he was askled to leave for being bigoted.lol

What kind of **** gives a random stranger shit at a gas station for the type of vehicle they drive?

I know the world can seem big and strange when you come out of your southern redneck hole.

Suddenly ignorance and intolerance aren't considered virtues.

LOL.

Not sure why I'm defending Denver, since I never lived there and you guys know better than me, but here goes. I would love trying to live in a smaller/resort town in CO (even one as small as Pagosa or Durango) but the girlfriend needs da culture and da restaurants and da shopping. Also, to be blunt, most of those smaller towns are pretty damn white. I'll probably get flamed for being too pc but I like a neighborhood where I can meet people who are a little more reflective of the global population. I suppose if you work in IT you can live anywhere, but if you need a job in most industries a big thriving town is going to give you more opportunities. The one thing that could easily stop me from living in Denver though is the traffic. If I lived five miles from where I worked I could do it no sweat.

If you saw these people, you would know what I mean..Ultra, Ultra,PC... Lots of money, snooty, etc etc etc.. Guys where I grew up at called em "Limousine Liberals". The kind that would preach all day long about equality etc, then go live in some rich neighborhood with a country club where they wouldnt be affected by what they were preaching. Kind of Al Gore hypocritical..Do as I say, not as I do

Funny thing was. When we went to get the car we reserved, a Ford Escape, the attendant offered us the Excursion for the same price..He said they had a hard time renting them so the boss decided to make this offer..Naturally, we took it cause we had a lot of the guys daughters belongings to move into the U of CO

The incident at the big box store was even crazier.

We had originally planned to stay a couple extra days to just check the place out and kind of hang out..After the big box store incident, we drove his daughter to her dorm and took the next flight out. Boulder is insane IMO

Anyone considering a relocation may wish to consider these factors:

"And it's not just New Orleans that's threatened. "From Miami to Boston to San Francisco, sea level rise is a major threat to countless U.S. communities," Tara DePorte, the executive director of The Human Impacts Institute, told AOL Real Estate. Her thoughts are echoed by Carl Safina, marine biologist and host of the PBS Series "Saving the Ocean," who said that major coastal cities such as Los Angeles (depicted in the photo illustration above), Miami, Seattle and New York are at high risk. ("New York is just getting more frequent and severe storms that bring high water and flooding," said Safina."

Hi everyone,

I could really use some relocation advice. After seven years of high taxes, annoying people (east coast is wow:wacko:), and bad food, the wife and I are ready to get out of New Jersey.

Some things to consider: Chicago is my hometown, and I miss it. I haven't lived there in 20+ years though. My only real concern is the long, frigid winters. Call me a wuss, but I'm not a fan of six months of subzero temps and snow at this point in my life.
Then don't consider moving back then, and can never recall having 6 months of sub 0 weather!

Similar thing happened to me in LA. I was driving a brand new SUV off the lot and some lady in a Prius pulled up next to me and started shaking her head. She was pointing at my vehicle to her passenger, and she mouthed to my passenger "why are you driving that." Funny thing is, I also own a Prius.

Reminds me of the Southpark episode where all the smug San Franciscans are driving priuses and smelling their own farts.

Sorry, it was an intended exaggeration.

I'm just tired of severe winters, especially now that I'm getting older. Chicago probably has the worst winter weather of any major city in the country though.

Depressing as ****. If it was just a little less cold, it wouldn't be awful if you were someone that enjoyed winter sports. But its so fucking cold that you can't even enjoy the sports since you're body fucking hurts.

Do you guys remember the winter from a couple years ago? I don't live in Chicago anymore, but I went back that winter to watch the Bears vs. Seahawks (we lost in OT) the first week of December. My wife and I bought all kinds of winter gear.. heavy jackets, gloves, scarves, thermal underwear, etc. She's never been to Chicago during the winter and I was warning her of how brutal it was going to be. Turns out it was like 60 degrees at game time and I was wearing a tshirt during the game b/c it was so warm.

Its not so much the cold as the sun disappears for 4-6 months. That low, heavy, uniform grey sky. I can't deal with that shit anymore. Seriously.

People in the midwest can't understand how it can be 20 degrees outside in the winter but still feel warm in the sun. I doesn't really happen there.

If you're not going to live in Chciagoland, move to the Denver area. It's basically mini-chicago. Though with that, it does have weird weather patterns. It may be in march and 70 one day and snowing the next.

I love the Denver area. That includes Boulder, and everything that is within around of an hour of it. I'd love to live in that area, if I wasn't already living in Chicagoland.

Yeah right. Like Detroit, Milwaukee, Minneapolis are better.

I'm the same way. I can deal with the cold just fine...it's the fucking gloomy bullshit that goes on forever that I can't stand. I'm pretty sure I have seasonal affective disorder (not even kidding). Shit makes me depressed.

I spent five years working outside in South Dakota. One day at work, the temperature dropped to -40F w/windchill. We were only allowed to work 5 minutes at a time in teams of two to avoid frostbite. As much as I love Chicago, I'm done with cold weather.

It's even worse if you work at night. Four months of that and you're ready to suck on an exhaust pipe. lol

Chicago probably has the worst winter weather of any major city in the country though.

It's up there, but we also have a low ratio of AWD vehicles on the road compared to metros with worse winters. Some places get a lot of ice storms, we rarely do, and get bitter cold instead. I would take 20 degree weather over 32 degree weather in the winter where all the cars, even AWD, are out of control.
