Ok let’s get a head start on the mock offseason. We currently have 34 players under contract for 2025 and 82 million in cap space. Those 34 players are as follows.

QB - Williams, Bagent
RB - Swift, Johnson,Wheeler
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott
TE - Kmet, Everett
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright
IOL - Bates

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Walker, Pickens
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Smith
S - Byard, Brisker, Hicks, Owens

K - Santos
P - Taylor

The below is very rough but meant mainly to illustrate we should be able to fix the OL and DL this offseason and field a very competitive team. Will obviously need refining once final draft order is known.

Cuts
Everett and Walker
92m Cap Space

Re-Signings

Allen - I think most expect him gone but assuming hid value has declined and he is a favorite target of Caleb I re-sign for 2 years 24m

Jenkins - Assuming Smith goes back to the Chiefs then I give Jenkins a Nate Davis type contract so 3 years and 30 million.

Shelton - His start to the season was terrible but he has played well since so I give him a modest 2 years 7m contract

Sanborn - Think he is a solid SAM and occasionally start at MIKE and WILL so 3 years at 9m

Minimum salary signings, Murray, Reddy Steward, Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, Stromberg, Martin, Carter
56.5m Cap Space

Free Agents

Gesicki - Got rid of Everett to sign someone hopefully a bi more dynamic. Thinking 2 years 8 million here.

Corbett - Can play C and G but comes injured so thinking he signs fo 1 year at say 7m.

Zeitler - Older guy and placeholder so rookies can develop so 2 years 15 million

Mack - Comes back and retires as a Bear. 2 years 30m.
23 Million Cap Space

Draft
1st Round - Kevlin Banks Jr - Jones is going into last year so this is insurance. I also allows Wright to kick inside to RG where his struggles against speed rushers can be mitigated.

2nd - Princely Umanmielen - Speed rusher whose first step is killer. He and Booker can spell Mack and Sweat and make for a good rotation. Thought about getting an Edge in the first but a lot more depth at Edge than at OT.

2nd Round - Deone Walker - A few draft engines seem to have him lower than I expect but conditioning issues may be an issue. In any event he joins the DL rotation as he has the size to play NT and first step quickness to play 3T.

3rd Round - Jonah Saviinea - Played inside and out but projects as more of a G at the NFL level.

5th Round - Jonah Manheim - Center prospect to provide some depth.

6th - Andrew Mukuba - Safety and special teams depth.

Aaron Smith - More of a coverage LB to provide depth and special teams.
Cap Space 11 million

QB - Williams, Bagent
RB - Swift, Johnson,Wheeler
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott, Allen, Carter
TE - Kmet, Gesicki
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright, Banks
IOL - Jenkins, Corbett, Zeitler, Shelton, Murray, Stromberg, Savaiinea, Manheim, Bates,

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker, Mack, Martin, Umanmielen
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Pickens, Hill, Walker
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell, Sanborn, Smith
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Steward, Jones, Blackwell
S - Byard, Brisker, Hicks, Owens, Smith, Mukuba

K - Santos
P - Taylor

So 55 players so top 51 means 2 guys salaries don't count so will cap space is actually 13 million. OL has got too much depth and need a 3rd TE but will take 90 guys to camp so more players will be added in offseason.

Why in the world would Mack want to come back to this fucked up organization? I could see him taking less money to play for a contender. The Bears would have to be way towards the bottom of his list of teams he wants to end his career with.

Because Poles did right by him. He also did a recent interview where he seemd to speak fondly of his time in Chicago. Another option would be Malcom Koonce who had 8 sacks in 2023 but has been injured all year.

Poles is long gone so that is meaningless.

At this point in his career, he wants to win. That is not happening in Chicago with yet another new head coach in what is still an incredibly fucked up organization from the top down. No way in a million years does Mack come back to Chicago to end his career.

How is Poles long gone? I did not say Pace. Poles did right by him by trading him to a team he thought would be a contender.

Bears can easily contend next year if they make the right moves and Caleb takes a leap forward. Think you are projecting your opinion of the Bears onto Mack.

If you dont think Mack is returning then propose someone else like Koonce. Who do you want that you think we can get at Edge?

A little too beefy for my tastes, but I like that you went OT in the first. The only player I'd consider taking over OT in the first is the WR out of Arizona.

Cant see Bears taking a WR in the first. I would think it is DL or OL in the first.
