Rams would've been an interesting spot for Stafford.

Good defense, good running game and a couple okay receivers.

How? He's the best quarterback in Lion's history.

Plus, drafting a rookie is both risky and pointless since there's a good chance he'll be a bust. They're better off sticking with him

this post has so much win

Yeah. Some say it's fake. Some say they saw it as it happened. I don't know. Hilarious though....

Racism is very real, sir. As a white male liberal, I'm living proof!

It's wheel!

how about they get rid of calvin johnson instead?

That's actually what I'm thinking should happen. Next year his cap number is $24,008,000 and the Lions could free up $11,092,000 of that to cut/trade him.

He's been great, but he's got a lingering knee issue that seems more degenerative then something that will get better. We've got to remember he's 6'5, 236 lbs planing a position where quickness is important. He's still a good WR on one leg, but can you really spend $24M in cap space on a WR who's just 'good'?

This is sort of like the Larry Fitzgerald discussion, but for him currently he's only $10,850,000 against the cap and would actually cost more against the cap to cut for the next 3 years.

Back to Stafford for a bit, I think the Lions really have to determine if he's worth that money before cutting him loose. How can that be done? You give him a bunch of average WRs and see if he can elevate their level of play. One can argue that has already happened with injuries to Johnson, but Im' thinking Calvin just can't be a part of the long term plans at that cost.

They extended Foles until 2018. The contract is breakable, but they would take a cap hit to do so.

How about the Eagles? Bradford's contract is done after this year and if they choose to move on they have already displayed that they are willing to make moves to get a guy with franchise talent at that position. I'd say Stafford has that.

Funny how bad Stafford's contract is for the Lions. Especially compared to Cutler's contract. Yep, had to go there.

Just out of curiosity, who would you prefer as the Eagles quarterback right now, in fact put them in order - Foles, Bradford and Stafford. And if you want, throw Cutler in there as well.
