Kevin Goldstein was on 670. The vast majority of the time was spent talking about the White Sox, but he did drop the same projection that I've seen from the vast majority of "experts". That he sees him as an above average hitting 1B that might be an all-star a few time, .280 hitter that puts up 25-30 bombs.

The only other fun part of the interview was to listen to Matt Speigel completely miss Goldstein's point about Jose Quintana.

Did Speigel say that Quintana was not the answer?

Close. Speigel was trying to raise the issue that soft tossing lefties aren't ranked high because their stuff isn't impressive. He threw out the examples of Mark Buehrle and Tom Glavine. Goldstein completely shot both of those down by saying that both were in fact rated highly and that Glavine was a hard thrower for a lefty when he came up. Goldstein point was that guys that don't miss a lot of bats have a very small margin for error, and that there has only been one Tom Glavine. After they ended the conversation, Speigel immediately says that Goldstein agrees with him that lefties without good stuff just are never ranked highly.

That's pretty much what I expect from him. Thing is, if he puts up those kinds of numbers for 6-8 years in Wrigley, he'll be hailed as a future HoFer.

Yeah that would be in the Ryan Klesko/Fred McGriff mold that some have used. If he can do that consistently he would be a fringe candidate like McGriff. He isn't a lock to do that, but so far the results have been encouraging.

Let him get through the lineups a few more times.. They'll adjust.. then he will have to adjust back..

If he does that and continues.. Good starter.

there was enough film on him for the rangers. its different than a batter who comes to the plate 4 times a game, there is a ton of pitches, trends in the games he has started.
