I'm surprised that people don't see that neither one makes a difference.

When Gilbert lights up a guy that just took a run at one of our forwards, the team comes alive and wins the game, it makes a difference. Kane enters the zone untouched, it made a difference..

Talking a guy in to dancing from 20 feet away on a faceoff? Makes no sense.

As far as making a difference, I thought it made one hell of a difference for Edmonton last night.

Two questions:

1. When did that ever happen?
2. If he is so vital, why is he in the minors and why did the Blackhawks pick up someone on waivers rather than call him up?

12-6-2019 5 minute major for fighting against the guy the league is afraid of., W against the Devils
12-18-2019 multiple fights, team came back to steal a point from the Coyotes
12-21-2019 major for fighting, W against Colorado

Next 6 games, 4-2, no fights, played at +2 hockey, back to rockford.

Why did the hawks move Joker? When you figure that out maybe you might see why Gilly is not here.

Gotta ask Harry potter I guess.

So Gilbert fighting Simmonds caused the Blackhawks to win in a shootout?

Can't believe we're still on this subject.

During intermission of last game, Brookbank (an assistant coach) said the team could use more players like Seeler. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook have all gone on record stating that players like this are important.

If you don't like fighting -- that's fine -- but the players and coaches themselves still see a place for it in the game. This is undeniable. It's not "pointless" for them, and it has an effect on them.

I can't believe I have to repeat this: There is zero evidence that fighting is important and the opinions of players don't change that.

It's important to the players, coaches, and GM's who still employ these players. Period. Their opinions matter more than any one of ours.

Exactly, Joker gets the dog house with Colliton, Gilbert stops fighting and gets sent to Rockford and the new guy picks a fight.
Makes you wonder....

Cat after that brutal turnover that lead to the goal. The very next line switch he was on, he got poke

He's on camera, what's he gonna say besides the obvious answer?

That's such a cop-out of a response. No one is twisting any of these guys' arms to glowingly say the things they say, yet they do so anyway. You see whenever a player doesn't want to answer a particular question, they just keep it short -- like when Toews was asked about the officiating shit-show the other night. My point is, these guys don't need to get into it the way they do -- but they choose to do so, because it's genuine. And if they didn't want to get into it, they wouldn't have to -- they could just keep their answers short.

Also, Seabrook and Keith personally lobbied Bowman to get Tootoo. So your logic doesn't apply, particularly to this case.

Well that is massively huge tonight.

I'd say every game this month is pretty much a must-win, especially this game. You can't start a critical five game road trip 0-2. I'd also say, you have to take games against teams ahead of you in regulation from here on out -- a tall order, but nevertheless. You have to take the full 2 points and give those teams 0, otherwise you won't make enough headway.

Not only are the Hawks 5 points behind the last wild card, but they're 5 points behind Arizona (who also plays tonight against Toronto), who are tied with Winnipeg.

Important games tonight (for the Hawks' wild card race):

Vegas/Minnesota
Arizona/Toronto
New York/Winnipeg

Strictly going by what a coach is saying at intermission when the cameras are rolling. That was your initial post.

Here is another example. Chicago Bears offense lead the league in punts this year. They also had 11 of 16 games that the offense did not score a TD in the first half.

Now I guarantee you when Mitch Trubisky's teammates, QB coach, O coordinator, headcoach are getting questions asked at halftime, everyone is going to say the one and only true PR answer, MITCH IS A STUD AND HALL OF FAMER!!!!

Um, no, it wasn't. Multiple players and coaches have said this, at multiple times; from multiple teams. Keith, Seabrook, Toews, Kane -- these are your core players saying this. And no, it isn't just player-speak - -just as it wasn't player-speak for Seabrook and Keith to actively lobby their GM to attain Tootoo. Cute try though.

And no, Nagy wouldn't say that. He would admit the offense was struggling but wouldn't single out anyone. That's a pretty terrible analogy and a far difference from going out of your way to laud praise on a particular individual.

Changed the tone of the season. Good or bad, things changed that day.

So let me see if I understand this.

Gilbert gets in a fight with Simmonds so the Blackhawks win in a shootout.

The tone of the season was changed so much that the Blackhawks lost the next four games, and are only ONE GAME over .500 since the earth-shattering Gilbert/Simmonds tilt.

Your justification for fighting gets dumber the more you look at it.

Huge? Yes. Will the 'hawks take advantage and play more than 20 minutes tonight? That's the real question.

It's a must win 2 points. After a brief hiatus of leap frogging a few teams, they are back in the cellar again
