You really don't know where you are going with that statement. I'll leave it at that.

Nah... sorry I really do. Looks like it's been confirmed... the coward did indeed commit suicide.

Thoughts and prayers to his loving family that he abandoned... people like him make me sick that they can do that to loved ones.

Good riddance, coward.

If it makes you sick, then you really don't know what leads someone there. Cowardice is far from the reason. And before you troll this further, try working with people teetering on that edge. I have, and cowardice is no where close.

The thing is he's not trolling, he actually believes what he's saying. This isn't his usual bullshit schtick.

Keep going, don't stop now. See this is one of the few rare opportunities on a medium like the Internet where other people can actually get a bit of an idea of just what type of person truly is on the other side the screen that they're dealing with. Because as you yourself admit, you're not trolling. You think you're being bold or making a statement in front of everyone else becoming Robin Williams "superfans". You're telling everyone else how it really is. But If you had any, any real idea or understanding, just even any inkling, of how damaging that kind of loud ignorance can be, rather how damaging it actually is, you wouldn't even joke around with it.

And if it's true you've experienced it first hand and you still have this type of view on it, then it's even worse. You have it so backwards that it's inside out.

All people who commit suicide should also probably wear mind visors in your eyes too, right?

It's not even really about suicide itself. Or Robin Williams. That's how fucking lost you are on this.

Don't let anyone on the internet bully your sadness. Some people have reasons for being unempathetic about mental illness and how difficult it is or are frustrated by it. Your feelings of loss are no less valid. We trade too much in heroes and cowards when neither word is fitting in this situation and often are empty. Dealing with mental illness is horrible as either a person who suffers from it or a person who deals with a loved one suffering from it. It's fucking gross and horrible. If Robin Williams is a hero to people it's not because of this action he felt he had to take but because of his work, the type of person he was, the performances and the kindness he shared.

I keep thinking about the 3rd season episode of "Louie" where Louie and Robin Williams meet at a friend's funeral. It's such a good episode about loss and aging and human connectivity. And then the episode of "Louie" where a character played by comedian Doug Stanhope comes to Louie to tell him his life is so shitty and he's so fucked up that he's going to commit suicide. And Louie tries to convince him not to only to realize that he can't. Sometimes people suffering from severe depression can't be told what to do, can't be convinced to make a different choice and don't listen to anything but the sounds in their own minds, damaged sounds that are destroying them.

This is some sad shit. He was really great at so many things. Comedy, drama, championing other comedians, new comedians, doing an insane amount of charity work for homelessness and mental illness. Many comedians I know met and/or worked with him and had nothing but glowing things to say about him. Same with people in the film industry in Vancouver.

I respect your opinion, but you are dead wrong on this. And that is not just my opinion, buy years of studies and real social work to back it up.

Rather than posting links to most of the long winded studies but this is pretty spot on http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2013/05/depression-part-two.html

Fords been sharing his true feelings towards suicide the past 12 hours so much so I had to delete a FB status as I didn't need a flame war to keep alerting my phone every 20 minutes.

Many depressed people who attempt or do commit suicide are not cowards. They just can't deal with the pain anymore the depression fuels and that's something many people will truly never understand.

Many cowards who have ended their life by suicide (Hitler, Columbine shooters, etc) use suicide as a means to not have to face their actions they have committed and are of a different area than the depressed (at least for the purpose of this analogy).
