"Hmm. Perhaps hurling some gold doubloons will assuage this angry crowd." --William Rockwell Wirtz 2022, probablyHow arrogant are you to think that cutting a check means end of story?
You know, I get that Rocky doesn’t want to talk about it.
But, he has to. Until he’s blue in the face.
I’ve watched this from different angles. I don’t think Rocky understood the actual question yet still had a cluster **** of a meltdown that any generic response could have diverted.
I cannot believe his PR team didn’t have a response written for him, nor do I think he was that stupid to think the Beach shit wouldn’t be brought up.
Those three on the stage should have got up and walked out after that first outburst.
They just unprivated the video on YouTube. They seriously privated the video and I was hoping they deleted the vitriol just like how they covered up the Beach mess, but they did leave it fully intact.
Every word that comes out this guys mouth equals shit after this.
He would have won just by making one statement;I thought the same thing immediately and had my own answer.
Rocky is one of those "****'em!" guys like the character Logan Roy in the show Succession on HBO.
Old, wealthy, privileged, and has lived a life where it actually works, to tell people to go **** themselves.
And yeah, in a fancy hotel suite with other Billionaires, if they question you on Kyle Beach, you can probably get away with the "****'em" reply.
These guys seem to have no clue, that you cannot go from private hotel suite, to public media appearance and tell the sundry public "Sexual assault of a kid? From 2010? ****'em!"
Even if you are that awful person, in your heart, if you wanna keep making money off said public, then you gotta at least have that pre-written statement "What happened to Kyle Beach is unacceptable, and as an organization we've made changes to ensure such an incident never reoccurs."
Beyond that, tell him to answer any follow ups with the same scripted response and just "I'd like to leave it there on that matter for now, thank you."
Its cold, but it gets you by.
He would have won just by making one statement;
“While I understand the traumatic events from 2010 are still fresh in everyone’s minds, we are doing this and this to make sure it never happens again and bring a new approach to things this unfortunate never happening again within this organization. As much as we would like to get into depth about this, we are here to discuss our GM search but will be available to discuss our moving forward one on one with each of you afterwards”
And send his PR team to deal with it.
That simple.
After watching it again, part of me thinks the other Wirtz was given the memo and Rocky shut it down.Statement is too long and soft for him.
I don't think he even considers the incident to be a real problem.
Rocky probably thinks "What kind of man allows another man to sexually assault him, and then doesn't fight?"
Rocky's generation you either fight or you stfu forever, they didn't talk about that stuff.
So for him, you gotta write like 1 sentence that barely even acknowledges the event, or he'll fly off the handle and rant.
I honestly wonder if that's what happened.
What you wrote is perfect, and I can hear his PR person like "Just say it like you mean it and they'll let you push past it to other topics, this is how the media works."
And that probably just made him even more mad that he had to make a kind/empathetic statement towards someone he probably hates.
In Rocky's mind, Kyle Beach shoulda stfu and not disrupted the gravy train.
So take down the banners? If Rocky doesn't want to talk about the past years then that means he can't bring up all the success they had either. Dude needs to remove himself from the team.
No I am saying Rocky can't pick to just talk about the success and not the failures. So take down the banners?
At the very least he could have fallen back on the tried and true, we are still working through some of the issues related to Kyle and other and at this time can't comment on it until all legal issues have been put to rest. That would at least give him time to have the PR team put out something like you said.He would have won just by making one statement;

There has to be something behind it. I don’t believe for one second their PR didn’t prep them for a Beach question.
Between kissing Eddie Dohs ass and this, it was a train wreck. I highly doubt you see another town hall thingy any time in the near future.
I cannot think they thought this would be a good idea. The team is a joke, the rape, the horrible look this franchise has right now. It was destined to fail.
Honestly, the pressure has been there for at least 15-20 years now. I can't tell you how many times as a life-long fan that I've heard, "oh man, there's no way they're keeping their name." Point being: it's nothing new and the fever pitch has always been about the same. Not saying it won't ever happen, just stating the obvious. Not to mention, the rumblings of "Chicago Blackhawks are one of the few remaining teams with names based off Native American heritage" are well underway.
Regardless of how anyone here feels, the pressure is coming for the Hawks to change their name.
Rocky and his organization are gonna be in the crosshairs for a while.
On top of that they are playing shit hockey most nights.... last night wasn't even watchable.

Well the good news is Eddie Balfour has a new bourbon on the market.
I wonder if Binnys carry’s it
