So let me get this straight. From a chronological perspective, The Force Awakens is post-Return of the Jedi, and Rogue One bridges Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Is this right?

  2. Villanova Wildcats
Can someone actually put these in chronological order? I think I like to try to get through it over holiday break.

Haven't seen Rogue One yet, so not sure if it exactly bridges the two, but it at least gives something leading up to A New Hope. There's a good amount of time between episode 3 and 4 and I'm not sure if Rogue One covers it all. Someone who has seen it can correct me though.

But chronologically, that is the correct order.

Watch A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back first. If you don't like those, chances are you won't like anything else. Those two are pretty universally considered the best of the bunch.

Gus,

Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Rogue One
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens

Thank you. Now I don't have to type this out.

You are correct.

Force Awakens is years after ROTJ.

Rogue One is immediately before A New Hope. Those two could have been released as a stand alone series and tie together greatly.

Nobody needs to watch Eps 1, 2, 3. Total waste of time.

Rogue One, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Force Awakens

This is true if you are 12 years old or younger. If you are an adult you should watch episode 3, it is by far the best movie of the series, not including Rogue One because I haven't seen it yet.

Star Wars was very epic and dense when I was so young that I couldn't read what Jabba the Hutt was saying. At 21 it was very simple and not too impressive outside of The Empire Strikes Back.

This is a joke right? Episode 3 was the best of the new trilogy that George Lucas made (Eps 1, 2, 3) but that's not saying much. It still sucks beyond belief. To claim it's better than Eps 4, 5, 6 is laughable.

Have to agree. The only thing superior about the prequels was the production and technology. They captured very little of the soul of the originals which made the whole thing so great. They actually caused me to lose interest in any future releases which is why I still haven't even bothered with The Force Awakens, far less Rogue One.

I would watch them in the order they were released.

I stumbled onto the idea online, but found it was the best way to watch them.

You watch A New Hope and the Empire Strikes back. After the great reveal about who Darth Vader really is...you then use the prequel movies as a flashback to prove that Vader is who he says he is, before moving onto Return of the Jedi.

I even found it works best to just drop Episode One. It is not only the worst movie, but does nothing to carry the overall story. We never really need to see Obi-Wan as an apprentence or Skywalker as a child. The midi-clorians thing is confusing and never mention again. Darth Maul never comes back. And far too much Jar-Jar.

If you are doing a marathon...it just feels that movie kills the rhythm.

So before I saw Force Awakens...my marathon was:

A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi

Bookend those with the two latest films if you would like.

Haven't watched those but my 7 year old daughter and I watch Star Wars Rebels. Good father/daughter time and while it's a cartoon it's still enjoyable as an adult.

I get it, you grew up with 4-5-6 and have a sentimental attachment. As movies those are incredibly bad, poorly written and acted. You bearmick, Crystallas, and Houston can't separate the deep feels and be objective, those movies are corny and childish. I loved them for the groundbreaking visuals but they are so cringeworthy it's painful, if you guys were a little older when you watched them for the first time you would be able to accept that fact.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith was by far the best movie of the first 6, it isn't even close. You guys will never accept that, and it's sweet that you have such strong loyalty to and feelings for your first love. That shit makes men stupid.
