Almost thumbs downed because you are not even paying attention to what rory is saying. Your response is utterly baffling.

Please try harder.
Maybe I missed a part of his conversation but where I started reading he kept asking Windy to show him details of which Windy would not know because he wasn't there. Then, he kept asking time and again for the same information as if Windy had been there and he needed to look through his notes.

Windy made a statement with the information that he was given. He does not have Nagy's ear so he cannot say things that have been done by Nagy and Pace behind closed doors. He does not know what film Nagy and Pace saw or didn't see.

Part of Rory's comments wanting Windy to reply how was Fry better than Bednarski since Bednarski was 3 for 3 on field goals at the end of practice. If you or Rory think that Bednarski only kicked 3 balls all weekend, then you are kidding yourself. Apparently, Bednarski did worse than Fry during the rest of the weekend. Why? Because Fry is still around and Bednarski isn't.

If you want to say that Bednarski is gone because he did a backflip, then you better come back with something from Nagy or Pace besides Nagy being disappointed with him doing that.

In short, Rory was becoming annoying with copying and pasting the same request to Windy. Wanting Windy to defend his own beliefs with Windy's thoughts is ok and expected. Wanting Windy to defend someone else's actions by going beyond the available information to Windy is stupid. I tried to respect Rory by not giving him a thumbs down, just like you did to me.

I guess Windy could have gone all A Few Good Men. Something like:

"My answer is that I don't have the first damn clue. Maybe Pace was an early riser and he liked to watch film in the morning. Maybe he didn't have any film. I'm an educated man but I'm afraid I can't speak intelligently about the kicking habits of Casey Bednarski. What I do know is that he was not part of the Bears after the Bears rookie mini-camp. Now are these really the questions I was called here to answer? Footballs and film reviews? Please tell me that you got something more, Rory. Two camp kickers are on the team for their NFL lives. Please tell me that Bednarski hadn't pinned his hopes to 3 field goals made after practice. Do you have any other questions for me, Rory? Thanks, Rory. I love Chicago."

Rory, "I didn't dismiss you."

And later. Windy, "You want answers? You want answer? You can't handle the truth! The truth, son, is that we live in a world that has goal posts. And those posts have to be kicked over by men with footballs. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Rory wine drinker? Nagy has a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Bednarski and you curse the Bears. You have that luxury. The luxury of the internet. The luxury of not knowing what Nagy knows. That Bednarski's release, while tragic, probably saved games. And Nagy's existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves games. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want Nagy on that field. You need Nagy on that field. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use those as the backbone of a life defending something. You've used them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain Nagy's decisions to a man who rises and sleeps under a blanket of a team and then questions everything that team does. I would rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you kick a football and miss a post. Either way, I don't give a damn to what you think you are entitled to."

Rory, "Did Nagy cut Bednarski for the backflip?"

"Nagy did the job."

"Did Nagy cut Bednarski for the backflip?"

"You're god-damn right he did!"

I think they would have stuck with Parkey if he hadn't gone on his self-pity tour. Nagy clearly did not like that. He also didn't appreciate Bendarski doing celebratory back flips, so maybe that was part of it.

Obviously Pace has a terrible track record of evaluating kickers, so maybe the the tryout was to give the coaches a chance to evaluate these guys in person? They're probably not watching hours of kicker's game film, so Pace and his scouts do that, pick a bunch and let the coaches get a handle on them. And yes I think you can garner a lot from working with players in person that you can't get from film, even in a short amount of time.

I'm not sure why you're so focused on Bednarsky. Do you think he was the best option? And if so, why, and based on what? The fact that they went out and brought in another kicker after the try out tells me none of them were particularly impressive.

The fact is they had some sort of competition and of the 8 kickers they couldn't defeat Bednarsky. The kicking evaluator didn't like something about him...and most are gone. A couple survive and we will do this pony show again between Fry, Blewitt, and Pineiro

I'm sure there's also plenty of teams that have more then one kicker on their roster as of now as well so Pace will have his eyes on which kickers get cut as well. I think there will still be many other kickers brought in for tryouts before this is all over. I think E.Fry is a real option as well.

If the #Bears don’t have their K on the current roster, a trade candidate to watch for in late August will be Ravens backup K Kaare Vedvik.

Was 8/9 last year with a 56-yarder. Was placed on IR after being jumped in Baltimore before the regular season.

I got to see that kid kick and it baffled me why the even had another kicker in Baltimore when they already have one of the best in the business, Justin Tucker. But then I remember that Robbie was "as good as Gould" until he wasn't... it is just the competition aspect that must continue through out to make sure the cream raises to the top. Also in case of injury, the Ravens wanted to know if the kid could step in.

Vedvik has a VERY powerful leg, and he appeared to be accurate even though he was a guy that was better in games than he was in practice.

Nagy and Pace are not only trying out all these kickers to see who is the starter, but also who might be the best among them should the starter get hurt.

Anyone that is critical of what appears to be over the top vetting, may not be looking at the big picture. I'm glad they are taking it serious, with both a large pool of players but also by bringing in a kicking specialist to help "consult" what ever that means.

Not only because of possible injury, but also for if the winner of the competition ends up sucking...

I almost got thru the wall.

I just wanna ask if Pinata can steal a page outta Bednarik's kicking style and kick those "knuckleballs", intentionally, on deep kickoffs

No, its the opposite of "over the top vetting". Its a clown show for PR purposes. Why the secrecy? Its like they got a bunch or resumes from LinkedIn or Monster, brought in 100 people for 5 minute interviews, then eliminated 98 of the 100 candidates.

As I have asked ad nauseum in this thread and have yet to get a response from homers like Windy/ZenBear/JoJo, why are the Bears using this 'emergency procedure' in early May? Why the rush to plow through 'prospects'? I would expect something like this if the Bears needed a kicker by Sunday...but in the offseason?! It makes no sense.

I continue to be distrustful of an organization that has proven to be unable to evaluate the kicker position and also that is not forthcoming with information regarding the search process. If my opinion and questions cause CCS members to be "upset" (LOL), then so be it, I guess. I'm not sure what they are expecting.

I wonder if the Bears might be doing this for the kickers benefit. I'll admit it seemed odd to cut some of the kicker so quickly, as if it is urgent to place someone. But If I am a kicker and I'm looking for a job and the Bears invite me to a "tryout", I am going to take it and if they obviously have someone else in mind, please send me on my way quickly so that I have an opportunity to be in TC with another team.

I can't really explain why they have done this fire drill of sorts, but it would not surprise me if League rules played into it somehow. Maybe this kind of thing is not allowed later in the season.

Hell I don't know maybe it is PR, but I am glad we are not just sitting back and accepting Parkey will "get better" because his contract was too big.

Its May 13th! How much time do these kickers need to latch on to another team? The Chargers signed the Money Badger on October 11th.

WTF? This is the kind of thing that you ONLY SEE later in the season. League rules?!

Bottom line for me is they are not sitting on their asses, they are doing something out of the ordinary, because what they were doing before obviously did not work. It sounds like you would rather have them doing nothing...WTF?

Why wait, till October 11th or some other arbitrary date that is much later in the season, that sounds like a recipe for another crappy kicker to end up being the starter.....
