Indeed. I'm an asshole too in case you were wondering.

He's also a 5'6" manlet. But he's our manlet.

And Pez knows what he's talking about. Remember our epic WTF moments on the Hawks PK/PP back in 2012, Pez? Those chats were awesome.

It's a penalty kill strategy (Xs and Os kinda thing) that I understand but cant explain. Hopefully Pezz can elaborate instead of insult newer posters.

When you are killing a penalty, you have four guys out there setup in a square or "box" formation. The Hawks were really bad about "collapsing" their forwards, or bringing them extremely low towards the net. This resulted in screening their own goalie and allowing the other team's D to have open shooting lanes. It was awful. Thus, the collapsing the box rants. They also ran an awful 1-3 PK where they only had one forward covering the points.

Dewz was not a troll... can't say the same thing about joecawks/captserious

Hateme should of showed up when the migration occurred, we used to have quality discussions going on there about the boardz battlez and effectiveness of a Andrew Brunette and StalGod talk.

I remember in 2010 when some people were criticizing the Hawks for collapsing on D too much and leaving the Dman at the point to open. Even Bobby Hull took some time to smack that system, and I recall it being complained by some pretty much every year even with success. Then especially with the start of Kitchen taking over the PK predominantly and swapping into their rotating triangle system. People even when it was #1 in the league still get bothered by it because it's passive.

Without Rozi though, if Hammer takes a penalty, it's not a pleasant PK situation. Either Rundblad/whoever fills in or Seabs takes the whole time on the ice and neither is a favorable spot.

Than Hammer needs to stay the **** out of the box. That simple.

Also Dews was a troll and you really can't argue against that.

Oh God I'd forgotten about all the zzzzzz's. Don't forget the Bolland for Selke thread!

Ideally, yeah, Hammer (along with Keith, Oduya, and Seabrook) all need to stay out of the box in the next two rounds. But that's a bit of a pipe dream. At some point, one of those guys is going to end up in a situation where they'll take a penalty. Nature of the game. Just minimize those instances.

It was a great case for Bolland, but in this post-04 lockout league, you have to score at least 60 Pts to be the win the best defensive forward in the league. :dunno: I think 60 pts is an undersell too, I'm pretty sure each of the winners but Bergeron had over 70.

The days of John Madden or Michael Pecca winning it seem like a thing of the past, let alone a winger getting it.

Definitely. I couldn't tell you a single relevant thing about Jere Lehtinen except that he won the Selke several years in a row

Or Troy Murray. Hell, when he won it in 1986, he only had...oh...

...99 points. ;)

I kinda did this for our younger viewers who had no idea about the other good ole' #19 prior to picking up a microphone.
