I prefer Sharp on the wing where he is scoring goals. Kane is really good at center.

Sharp and Kane both played wing last year and Sharp scored more goals. I want Sharp on the wing and Kane at center.

I would make the first line Stalberg-Toews-Sharp and the second line Ryan-Kane-Hossa. That is, if the Hawks get Ryan. I'm still not believing this rumor until it happens.

However, from a strictly coaching standpoint, if a player is chalking up points then someone on the team is scoring the goals. It is not relevant as to whom that player might be.

Hockey being a team game, technically you don't even need to be credited with an assist to be effective on offense - or in otherwords- you make the opposition worry about you- they lose their focus - bang -the puck is over the goal line. Doesn't matter really, all it matters is in the sense of team.

Sharp, happens to produce at a given clip consistently over the past few years - it doesn't really matter where.

That plus as a forward, technically you aren't playing rod hockey- you have your defensive assignments (in a lot of cases it is zone defense for the wingers), but the deal is there, based upon the pace of the game you have to cover up what might be missing - like say if the defencemen went on in deep -someone --aka a forward has to cover the point until the d-man gets back on point....

which sounds irrellevant- but what I am trying to say is that the defensive duties are dictated by the situations at any given moment... and in ice hockey terms that can (and often does) equal a nano-second -even in rec leagues. (Obviously it is that much more full on the further up the scale you go).

Sharp is better.

And he scores in whatever position he plays.

I was never super impressed by Sharp at center.

I really like Pirri with Sharp and Hossa. If Ryan did come to the Hawks, put him on the top line with Toews and Kane maybe?

This is all assuming that something that isn't very likely will happen.

I'm not sure if I would like the return they would want for Ryan. I would love for him to be on the Hawks but I guess it depends on what we have to give up.

if they asked for morin, stalberg, kruger you do it all day

no doubt

but the think icehog is making is that it would be more than that and THEN you would have to think hard about the volume of young guys/picks you are giving up

Exactly. I can deal with losing 1 guy from the roster, but 2 your starting to cut into the Scott and Lepisto playing. Alongside of that, the guys that would be traded would probably be the ones we expected to fill in, then that leaves us with guys who aren't ready, and hurt their development.

im guessing it would take:

Kruger
Stalberg
Lalonde or Olsen
Draft Picks

Brunette-Toews-Sharp
Ryan-Kane-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Hayes-Mayers-Carcillo

Those would be my lines...

I'm thinking they would want Leddy back in the deal.

It has been rumored since the beginning that the Ducks would want a top end Dman back. However, I highly doubt the Blackhawks would include Leddy in a deal for Ryan...just don't see them willing to part with him. I think they would part with Hjalmarsson and then obviously any Dman prospect. Would that be enough? In the end I bet a package of Lalonde, Kruger, Smith, picks/prospects could get it done - even without Leddy.

Risky, but Ryan is a rare breed in the NHL and exactly what the Blackhawks have been missing for a little while.

Leddy is a deal-breaker for me. Sure, your cast of forwards would be the best in the league but you would further deplete your defense.

I would think that Anaheim would want back Stalberg but I could live w/Kruger, Morin, Lalonde and a #1 but that is the high side and I don't do that deal unless I can't swing something better . Maybe then try to deal Stalberg or Smith for some D help.

Keep in mind that Ryan is signed at 5.1 mil for the next 3 years so this isn't a rental. I would think it definitely means #4 gets moved in the offseason. for salary cap relief.

Here's another cheaper option: Gleason and someone like Propsal which you know CBJs will move. For D you got 2/7, Gleason/8, 4/5. And Gleason gives a lot more grit with Seabs, Gleason, or Montador on the ice at all times. Propsal could give you #19, #88, Carcillo/Stalberg/Bruno and #10, #81, Propsal. That's a lot of scoreing.

I heard they may be willing to part with Getzlaf before Ryan. I dont really see the Ducks sending away Ryan, Getzlaf, or Perry. They could however if the package is right, but I don't want to overpay for them. There will be rental scorers and defenders available as the month progresses.

Wouldn't give up Leddy for just about anything..

He's good.

Yep. I'm not really sold on giving away a roster player just because the team is so good right now. We have plenty of youn talent that can be expendable and or draft picks.

If the Hawks could somehow get a steal for Ryan, that would be awesome. Shaw on the first line right now? Not good. I like Shaw, but that's not okay right now.

Ryan would be a huge addition. And yet still not what the Hawks need.

Oh I know. That's why I really doubt the Hawks are actual contenders for him.

Bowman wouldn't give that much up just for one player. He's smarter than that, I think.
