O.K. .....Third and goal on the One yard line........Who gets the Ball?

* Does Matt have the power to punch it in?!
*Carey does have the ability to "worm" his way for an extra yard or two after contact.....?!
*Do we need a "Thumper".....(a LeGarrette Blount)....?

Probably 8th. Below Yeldon and above Cobb. Just my opinion though.

9. Cobb
10 David Johnson

I'd probalby put Carey 7th in this class. Of course, I was a bigger Carey fan than most last year.

that's how i see it as well. i think the top 7 guys are all 2nd round or better values. which is why i'd look for a 3rd round pick on running back. if the bears could get yeldon in the 3rd i'd be ecstatic. really any of those top 7 guys would be amazing value in the early 3rd round. they're all potential quality starting running backs in my opinion(though some will require the correct system).

in my opinion this is the best running back class since 2008.

i think a "power" back is a distinct possibility. i think the ideal situation for the bears is to have forte as the lead back but with his snaps cut. people can pretend he's not quickly approaching the running back cliff but that's all it is. pretend. 27 is statistically speaking the peak year for running backs, and the decline is dramatic after that. only a very small number of backs remain productive past the age of 30.

i'd love to see the bears do something similar to the patriots, where you can adapt on a weekly basis what you're doing on offense. the bears had no ability last year to be a power run team, even if they had wanted to.

so you maximize what's left in forte's tank by giving him help. cut him down to around 60-65% of the snaps. carey is a good receiver so he can pick up some of that slack, and add a power back to the mix. that's another thing the bears struggle with-closing teams out with the run game. when they tried to run late in games with leads, they were not effective at all.

ideally you get a guy who could potentially be a starter after forte's gone as well. at least you get a guy who can be part of a rotation with carey.

neither forte or carey are great in short-yardage. but we need a lot of help on DEF, can't see taking a RB in the 1st/2nd/3rd. so, do we want to take ANOTHER rb in the 4th? i don't know. it would be tempting to take a stud rb in the 2nd, but maybe we wait until next year for RB. could be this for 2016:

1st - QB/RB
2nd - RB/QB
3rd - CB/S
4th - OL

i'd love to see us draft one of the top two backs, but at what cost? we can't afford that luxury this year. we can find a HB/bruiser later i think. if we took gordon/gurley in the 2nd, especially if we trade back from #7 to get an EXTRA 2nd, i'd be thrilled. we just need a LOT of help on defense.

Even though he has serious character issues, Thomas Rawls out of Central Michigan is a huge sleeper.
