Great show as usual Kush. I never really thought about it before, but why are we cursed as Chicagoans to always have a major hole for one of our teams?

As you pointed out:

a. BULLS How long has it been since we've had a low-post player? Curry, although I thought O. Harrington was underrated. This will probably continute for decades. 2003-?

b. BEARS No QB until Cutler. I guess the way he played last year (Although I still believe in him), you could say it's continued again.

c. Cubs without a 3rd baseman, from Santo until Ramirez.

d. The Sox without a fan base, from 1919 until 2005. And 2007 until today.

e. I don't know enough about the Hawks to comment.

I never really got the cliche of the Bulls have no low post game. Who really does anymore? What you really need is front court scoring not low post game. You have guy in Rose who can get you better shot late in games than any post guy can. All you really need is 4 who can score really effectively. None of the 3 free agents have much of low post game. Boozer is midpost and Bosh+Amare are face up guys. The true effective low post guys in the game right now are Duncan,Yao,Kaman, and Bogut

Such sweeping generalizations. Can't we just say that both teams have die hard fans that are knowledgeable about the game of baseball?

Is this the canned response that the White Sox hand out on cards before home games to fans? Tell any fan "no one gives a shit about the sox" and they always come back with "OUR FANS KNOW BASEBALL".....well I would never expect a fanbase with a average completed education level of third grade to have a witty comeback.

Why dont you talk to some true Cub fans (like Fred and Kush) about baseball and let's see if they know what they are talking about. Plain and simple, there is no real reason to be a White Sox fan, then because 1) your family is, so your a follower 2) your low class and shop at Aldi's 3) you think "different" is cool.

I said most fans as I'm sure Fred and Kush know what the hell there talking about. It's hard to not have the reaction though as when last year whenever I listen to the radio all I hear about is let's trade Derrick Lee for Jake Peavy. What reason is there to be a Cubs fan though? Because they sell out even game? Up until the Ricketts bought the team their ownership was in position like JR with the Bulls as all they cared about was making money and thus one of the reasons in 06 why they went ape crazy with their money. I guess because I like the Soxs though that makes me low class and thus I guess I should start shopping at Aldi's.

 Oh Mark, adding your own canned responses to back up your point. There are knowledgeable fans on both sides. But I will say this. The majority of fans who go to Wrigley are utterly Special person. I don't even go there anymore for that reason, that & the stadium is falling apart & I don't like pissing in a big tub with 10 inebriated frat boys. Most "fans" have no idea what is going on in the game because of they are completely wasted by the 3rd inning. You know this, we've been those guys before! Hahaha. Just because we follow baseball doesn't take away from the fact that ALOT of Cubs fans & ALOT of Sox fans for that matter are just flippin' idiots. But you can say that with any sport. You need only listen to the Bulls postgame on ESPN 1000 to realize that.

But the difference is the Cubs have the marquee name, like the Red Sox & Yankees, & they get ALOT of fans who are just fans because "oh it's the Cubs". You're not getting that with the Sox unless they are in the World Series. Sox get the fair weather fans. It sucks because it gives TRUE Cubs fans a bad rep but it is what it is.

So let's all agree that both fan bases are idiots & move onto maybe some talk about the better sport, basketball.

As a Cub fan who actually grew up on the South Side, my argument would be that there are some Sox fans...but there are a lot more people who call themselves Sox fans who really just rabidly hate the Cubs.

I agree that there are some people that just hate the Cubs. I don't really understand why. The Cubs aren't that bad (to my knowledge) it's just that they can't win in the playoffs. In that sense, they're like the Suns, they have a winning record but for some reason can't succeed in the playoffs. Maybe it's the fact that the Cubs are more famous than the Sox. Though I guess it could really be said that they're more infamous due to their lack of ability to win in the playoffs...and that whole World Series curse thing.

I don't know about you, but most of the Cubs fans I know are die-hard. If anything, people should be jumping off the Cubs bandwagon because their seasons never really amount to anything.

I'm glad my show could spur some baseball discussion B)

And dpauley, I just don't mean low post, I just always say that. Just a 4 who can score, like you said. Stoudemire, for example, faces the basket and puts the ball on the floor. Just someone who can score from the 4 or 5.

And Fred, you just love Harrington. I mean you compared my game to his. :eek:hmy:

Thats what I thought you meant. It just pisses me off whenever you watch Bulls game on ESPN all they talk about is how they have no low post scoring big man when there's only about 5 teams who do in the league. I always felt that Gooden gave us some good offense but was just so horrible on defense he negated all the good he did

I could see that. I will say this, there's no greater fan in the World than a die-hard Cubs fan. It takes a rare patience & humility to ride the emotional roller coaster of failed opportunities & failed expectations yet still come back with 100% devotion every year. I'm certain it has taken several years off my life but I will bleed Cubbie blue til the day I'm put in a pine box.

I think what most national media observes is a lot of jumpshots and up until recently, no one got double teamed on a regular basis. Having someone in the low post would have open the game up for those shooters. Very few successful teams win with no low post threat...and I think that is why so many diagnose that as the problem. As far as teams who have that threat...quite a few have post up big men who are contenders...

L.A., Cleveland, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Boston all have big men with post up games...just have to have the option. Utah in the 90's were fairly dominant with no practically no post game at all, but that is the hard way to do it. Every good team needs a low post presence, it just makes things a lot easier.

During the 90's Utah had Malone. Why would you say they had no post presence?

Malone didn't play with his back to the basket that much, he faced up a lot more...did a lot of pick and roll...
