First of all Fred is from the south side and he is a die hard Cubs fan. Every year they are going to win it all, every year they have the best team, every year he says he will never root for them again, until the next week at least......

Second, Fred's mom shops exclusively at Aldi's so the comment that only sox fans shop there is stupid.

Third, and I quote my brother in law who was a sox fan and is now a cubs fan..."I use to love the sox but i went to a cubs game and it was the best party i have every been to".
Wow, i wonder if a baseball game broke out while he was there?

Dude, this a BULLS board. Baseball is completely secondary here. I don't have any desire to get in a pissing contest with jaded Sox fans or jaded Cubs fans for that matter. Who gives a F? Like a fat kid on a sit-n-spin, it never goes anywhere.

Now if there's some actual basketball banter you'd like to engage, by all means please do.

Hey Kush.....
My first time on the boards. Love the podcast.
I've been listening since I moved overseas a couple years ago.
You really keep me in touch with the Bulls beyond the box score.
Thank you for that.

I'm decided to write because I think with Chris Bosh on the Bulls next year they ARE a contender.
Assuming Wade and Lebron stay as is next year...Boston is done, that leave Atlanta, Cleveland, Orlando and the Bulls as the four legit teams in the East.
Cleveland is the best of the bunch but who knows. If they don't pick up a key second option I think the Bulls with Bosh are as good a team as Cleveland. As far as the west??? It's probably still LA next year but I'd be willing to go at them with what we have.

Also, Bosh is a better fit for the Bulls than Amare. He's higher energy, more effort, better attitude. Their stats are a wash but when you look at the way the Bosh approaches every game...that's the guy you want on your team.

So anyhow...those are my thoughts.
Just thinking not to underestimate the potential for that pick-up.

Keep it up!
Thanks again.

Welcome to the boards Dave. And thanks for listening.

I would prefer Bosh to Stoudemire to. And if Wade stays, and LBJ, and the Bulls land Bosh, I suppose they would be an East contender. You make some good points.

Noah
Bosh
Deng
Rose
Hinrich

That would be a pretty solid starting 5. If Amare goes to Miami with Wade I think Miami would be better, Cleveland would still be better and Orlando would still be there, as would Atlanta if they keep Johnson.

The Bosh to the Bulls definitely closes the gap.

Kush let back you up on this. The Bulls will better with Bosh or STAT but, IMO neither makes us a legit contender. Unless Rose develops into a 4th quarter scorer.

What I mean is we need someone who can carry a team for small stretches of time in the 4th quarter when all the other players are too rattled too scared, too nervous to make a basket.

Every team that has won the NBA championship has one:
Lakers - Kobe
Cs - Pierce
Spurs - Duncan
Heat - Wade
Pistons - Billups
Lakers x3 - Shaq.

If and it is a big if Rose can be that type of player where he can get a shot for himself or another player during the 4th quarter of a tight NBA game then we do become contenders. If he can't then only LBJ and Wade make us true contenders to win it all.

laters,

I agree. I guess it goes back to the question I asked on the last show. What's our definition of a contender?

If we get Bosh we still won't be better than the Lakers. But we would move up the East ladder. Does that makes us a "contender?" Or will the fact that we won't be better than the Lakers make us non-contenders thus the only guys that can make us a contender are Wade or LBJ?

A contender is a team with a genuine shot at the championship. You don't have to be the best team to win the championship, only the best team for 7 games. Having Bosh or Wade would make us a contender. Having LeBron would make us favourites.

I'd say a top 3-4 team in the EC, basically a team with a shot to get to the ecf continually. I'm glad we are building with stars and not depth like last time. I hope we can get James because as Shakes said, it makes us favorites.

One last point on the Bosh....

Think about what Bosh, Rose and Noah do for eachother...

Rose or Bosh could both be the primary scorer which eases each other's burden.
Potentially Rose and Bosh could create the best pick-and-roll threat in the league. Especially given Bosh's athleticism for his size.
When Rose's attacks the basket Bosh's man won't be able to leave him to pick up Rose which will open things up for Rose.
Noah can handle the tough Defensive assignments and keep Bosh's legs fresh on offense.
Noah no longer has to worry about his offensive output and can concentrate on defense and rebounding.

Toronto is 31-24..and look at their team!!
Bosh is single handedly putting these guys in the playoffs.
Think about the damage he could do on team as good as the Bulls.

I'm sold.

i like their bench better than ours.

I think our current bench is almost as good, but lose almost all of it. If you compare odom to deng, it's pretty even. Of course Phil is better, but vinny isn't the absolute worst coach in the world, and he may be gone by that time

eh...i'm not that much of a baseball follower, but i prefer the sox. the cubs are too bandwagon in my opinion. so i guess you could say i'm one of those who is to be different ;) i don't have enough opinion to hate the cubs though...if chicago wins, i'm happy
I don't know about you, but most of the Cubs fans I know are die-hard. If anything, people should be jumping off the Cubs bandwagon because their seasons never really amount to anything.

As a Cub Fan we should jump off the bandwagon, but we stay, even if it means we continue to get kicked in the nuts by this team every year, die-hards, true fans

Thats what I thought you meant. It just pisses me off whenever you watch Bulls game on ESPN all they talk about is how they have no low post scoring big man when there's only about 5 teams who do in the league. I always felt that Gooden gave us some good offense but was just so horrible on defense he negated all the good he did

I think what most national media observes is a lot of jumpshots and up until recently, no one got double teamed on a regular basis. Having someone in the low post would have open the game up for those shooters. Very few successful teams win with no low post threat...and I think that is why so many diagnose that as the problem. As far as teams who have that threat...quite a few have post up big men who are contenders...

L.A., Cleveland, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Boston all have big men with post up games...just have to have the option. Utah in the 90's were fairly dominant with no practically no post game at all, but that is the hard way to do it. Every good team needs a low post presence, it just makes things a lot easier.

Don't forget Utah and Minnesota

a. I'll be damned if anyone rips on Aldi's. Best value in town.
b. My mother is a Sox fan.
c. You must be talking about my brother Dave.
d. You know damn well when I take my nephew out to Wrigley, and he views the beauty of Wrigley (Ivy & Ladies), he's coming home wearing Cubbie Blue for good.

Hell yeah! Nothing I enjoyed more as a kid than sitting down for Saturday Morning cartoons with a nice bowl of Crisp Rice or Toasted Honey flavored O's. B)

HAHAHAA!! I did the same thing! It was either Crisp Rice or Corn Squares for me. I used to have so much fun bagging the grociers for my mom anytime we went there. Plus their bacon was amazing.

Only thing I hated was the generic tissues. It was like wiping your nose across a tree trunk.

Corn squares are good., Gimmie some good ole CoCo Dots. Maybe some Toasted Cinnamon Squares if my grandfather felt like spending big.
