Outside of Amon Ra who has the lions GM really found in those rounds? Serious Question

Anything around round 4 and up is usually just having a shamrock up your ass, most of those guys dont see a second NFL contract. I agree he needs to do better in rounds 3, as the hit rate in that round is still pretty solid.

My main issue with poles is flus and not firing him last offseason, but it netted us ben johnson anyways. This completely stunted player development of all the young guys he drafted by having a terrible coaching staff.
That and trades. They all miss but he could use a major hit where someone rises above his draft position besides Jones. I liked last years draft but the others have been an issue after the 2nd outside of Braxton. We really don't have enough play to evaluate 2024 right now either.

That said, he seems smart and level headed. I suspect Johnson likes him and wanted this done as well. My concern is our scouting staff. No idea what's up there but I suspect it's somewhat of an issue.

Um, the people that hired him and sign his paychecks think he’s earned an extension. Everyone else’s opinion means exactly nothing
What's your point, I shouldn't state my opinion cause I'm not cutting his paychecks?

Also, as we can all agree, those very same people that do sign his paycheck have proven themselves to be morons.

But dumb bears fans are mad he's a bad GM. They dont look at the track record of other GM's in the nfl tho!

So far he's batting 100% on all his 1st and second round picks, and some may develop into very good or star players eventually. But he's awful because he didnt hit on a random 4th round pick or traded for chase claypool when everyone knew we were desperate for an answer at WR to properly judge justin.

Poles should have maybe been fired for keeping flus around, but the bears effed him in the first place by basically deciding who the options were for HC before he was even hired.

Meanwhile his aGM keeps getting GM interviews but the bears front office is terrible. So terrible they netted the best young coaching prospect in recent years.
15-36, Scoreboard. STFU troll.

Such a stupid measure to use, his tanking is the reason we got ben johnson and caleb williams and the bears may potentially be a superbowl contender one day.

I'm sure the same idiots who blame him for the record would be crying if the bears were constantly mediocre with zero upside like the Bulls
I forgot that people on CCS disregard such banal things as the Bears actually winning games.

If you actually look at Poles' drafts and FA signings up to this point, you get an idea as to why this team is constantly struggling. Most of his draft picks from Year 1 were worthless. Like absolutely worthless and being unable to even see the field in the NFL. That is terrible. Even worse IMO is Poles' complete inability to evaluate current NFL talent. Almost all the proven players he brought in were horrendous. None of them helped shift the needle on this team. .

You are right - Poles is smart and level headed - but I would also add that he shown that he is a man of integrity and good character. All in all, I imagine for those who work with him, he is not a hard man to like.

Last thing — I think we would do wise to remember how secretive the GM position used to be with our franchise. It was like those guys were guarding state secrets or something and you could never get a straight answer out them — I particularly used to hate that about Ryan Pace.

This guy Poles opened up a new era of open discourse/open disclosure — no longer hiding/no longer being evasive and secretive.

Yup but he needs to do better. Lets hope his luck turns.
