We have no need for Desmond, even with Castro gone.

It's not necessarily "horrific" but there's also a reason it's not common. There's good reason things are usually paid for while they're being used.
If Scherzer can be good the next 7 years, then it's helpful the next 7 years and harmful the following 7 years after that.
$10 million is still significant money 8 years from now and it will be counting against whatever the Nats are willing to spend, while getting nothing back from it. It will be a factor. I've hated seeing the Cubs pay for players not on their team, yet having it count against what they're willing to spend.
The only reason to drag out spending money is because you can't afford something, and how well does that usually end?
Castro and a top 5 for Desmond/Strasburg.
Here we go trading Castro again. .lol
Kid been traded more times on this board then the Cubs probably got actual offers for him..
I have no desire to trade Castro but if the Cubs wanted Strasburg, which I honestly don't think they'll get involved in, that's who they'd want. They traded for a young SS from San Diego but he's at least 2 years away and they lose Desmond after this year. My feeling is that they are going to trade Strasburg but St. Louis and Boston are much more likely landing spots.
Trust me though they get offers for him every single day. 24 year old SS, three time All Star on a team friendly contract through 2019? Yeah, every day.
It's funny. I showed a quote from Peter gammons that said that Cubs would only entertain castro trade if they were offered a shit ton . He said the only people that doesn't hold castro in high regard in this league are Cubs fans. Maybe that's why the players voted him in the all star game. Maybe the league may know a little more then some message board heroes

Can we stop over-hyping AS appearances?
Over-hyping AS appearances is something you would consider for a LaHair type player. Castro? He deserves the accolades. He's a terrific young player. Can we stop over-hyping AS appearances?

You don't respect the game. You have no idea what an AS appearance actually means. He's a good young player compared to his contemporaries of which his 2nd AS appearance was as a replacement.

Your lack of appreciation for how hard the best of the best work is troubling and a 23 year old having 3 AS appearances is better than good.I know what it means and I do respect the game. But smearing seems to be in your character right now, so I'll pass on your challenge.

If I showed your postings here to some of my MLB associates they would be greatly amused.I appreciate all of that. No one is going to confuse at this point of Castro being a hard worker. You totally undervalue the weakness of the position right now. Castro is good. And I think if someone took the time to compare AS SS it would pan out as good. He's a Solid B guy and there is nothing wrong with that.
