Are you intentionally being a dick? Its a discussion board. Also, if you are going to throw out stats. Be accurate. Be excellent to each other or get the **** off the board because Im not having assholes ruin this World Series run.

Sorry...my stats were way off

Baez vs rhp

258
288
401

Not the guy to bat cleanup vs rhp kluber

But putting zobrist in the 9 hole is a wonderful idea!

I assume Kyle will play, but another reason to put him on the roster is because he will occupy a pitchers preperation and head space just being on the roster more than scyjkdjfal

its pretty low rish high reward really.. If he plays bad the first game or 2 then you can always pull him and replace him due to injury

Kinda cherry picking there sharpy. How about looking at it as he won the co-MVP and his input has pretty much carried the Cubs through this play offs.

We are getting caught up in the output after Hill's game but if you look up to that point it was Bryant and Baez carring the team through the SFG series and the first 3 games of LAD. After Rizzo and Russell got it together with an assist from Szczur's gear the O came alive.

You can cherry pick stats all day but it doesn't change the fact that Baez was very deserving of the co-MVP. And was the center of attention over this run.

So lay off the guy. He is comming into his own right now.

But as I said: Joe likes Zobrist hitting 4. More to do with a diffrent type of hitter in between a bunch of power bats. All I was thinking is Zobrist than Fowler feeding Bryant and Rizzo. He chose least AB's to Ross route.

Weird seeing Cog in RF. Issue with Heyward or Cog has a history with Kluber?

No history with Kluber to speak of, so I think it's more of a hitter profile vs. pitcher profile thing. Coghlan probably hits whatever Kluber is likely to throw very well.

Could also be that Heyward is slumping and Joe wants to spice up the bottom.

The other surprise in the Cubs lineup is Chris Coghlan starting in right field over Jason Heyward. Coghlan has faced Indians Game 1 starter Corey Kluber, and was 1-for-3 with a double. Ben Zobrist has the most at-bats against Kluber among the Cubs (13), but only one hit. Heyward has gone 2-for-28 in the postseason. Coghlan has gone 0-for-4 in the postseason, but he has been solid against right-handed pitching in his career (.268/.341/.424).

With Rizzo and Schwarber just two spots apart, it seems likely that left-hander Andrew Miller, the Indians' ace reliever, will be brought in at some point to face both of them. If so, Joe Maddon would have to decide whether to use one of his many right-handed hitters on the bench -- including Willson Contreras and Soler -- to pinch-hit for Schwarber, who has a career .481 OPS against southpaws.

Yeah, Heyward kinda negates being able to use a DH -- considering he's a guaranteed out. But I still thought he'd start because his defense would be useful in a hitters park. But hey I'm not complaining -- Cogs played well the second half. He just hasn't played in the playoffs, really.

Cant replace Schwarber due to pre-existing injury. If he can't play, tell him to grab his elbow and fake pain.

You are suggesting a different leadoff hitter?

So now that we know we are scoring at least 16 runs tonight (4 grand slams by The Babe), how do we think Game 2 will turn out?

Cherry picling?

Baez is what he is....a defensive wiz who kills lhp but struggles vs rhp from a ba and obp perspective.

Has had a great playoff but hitting him 4th and dropping zobrist to 9th is a joke from a drunk guy, a clueless guy or a 12 year old kid.

Again. Maddon did this last year and said the same thing with the 9 hitter being the 2nd lead off guy. It is a AL play style where they run their 2nd best lead off 9th and their best hitter 2. That way they can give their best hitters more RBI opertunites.

This is nothing new. Madden deciced not to go this direction. That is all.

Let's see:

47 sober. Cubs fan sense 1977.

Play offs:
Baez .342/.366/.526
Zobrist .167/.244/.250

Not really knocking Zo at all but Baez has been one of the best play off series we have seen.

So you can back off. Mmmk. Maddon made his choice and it is a new series. Any of these guys can get on fire.

Speaking of cherry picking

10 game sample size and your ready to hit baez 4th vs a team with 10 rhp and zobrist 9th which he's never hit all year.....and debunking your own argument with your own stats....hes stunk this postseason and not the great guy you want as the 2nd leadoff Hitter......whatever that fking means
