I drink Crown Reserve or Crown Xo fairly regularly with two ice cubes.

Not huge into scotch, I have tried it multiple times, but it just hasn't tripped my trigger yet.

I used to be a scotch drinker but then I tried Irish Whiskey and I like it better. When I drink Scotch, I prefer Johnny Walker Black.

Wife got me a bottle of Lagavulin 16 for Christmas a few years ago, it was amazing.

I don’t mind drinking alcohol. It’s just when I do, it tastes like straight rubbing alcohol. I’ll drink it but I wish I could taste it like you guys taste it. I just taste nothing but alcohol.

If anyone wants to get into drinking scotch, I would recommend Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban. It is aged in port casks which REALLY mellows it out. It is the only one my wife will drink.

I am not a huge peat guy, but will enjoy one every now and then. Particularly Lagavulin, preferably 18, but hard to find.

Super duper fun fact: My name is engraved somewhere in the Glenmorangie distillery. I submitted a card that came in my Glenmorangie 21 and they wrote back saying I made the cut. Yes. I like my scotch old enough to drink scotch.

Are you young?
It tasted to me exactly like how you describe it during my 20's, so I drank nothing but beer all through my 20-30's.
Now I drink beer and whiskey 1:1.

I'm in my early 40's and only now started to appreciate it.
I started with Gin because I liked gin & tonic so much.
Then moved on to clear whiskey, which I still like.
And so on and so forth...

This is personal preference, but I drink it neat. I taste it better that way.
If you live around chicago I recommend going to Journeyman Distillery in MI.
It's not that far and you can do a tour and/or drink a flight. I recommend the clear flight.

It's kind of like football. The more you know and watch(taste) the more you'll enjoy.
I still don't know jack, but am learning.

I’m 34. I like vodka with OJ and tequila but in fresh margaritas. But drinking something neat or on ice, just fucking strong man. But I’m still going to keep trying it.

Glennmorangie is my second favorite scotch, behind Balvenie.

First time I had Balvenie I hated it.
Then I had some I had put two cubes of ice in and forgot it for a few minutes.
You know company and shit.
Anyway I walk back to get my drink a few minutes later and the ice had bled just a touch.
Was a whole new world... a bit more mellow, could almost taste the cask and cherry.
Was right then I learned I was a scotch rocks guy.
Don’t care for it neat anymore... amazing what little differences make.

I do the same with good whiskey. Two cubes, swirl, sip.

Yep that's what I do. I don't know if it's a temperature thing, or a bit of water, but it makes a massive difference. I get the same thing, I can taste way more of whats going on when I have some ice in my scotch.

The water definitely opens it up. If you go to a scotch bar, they have tiny pitchers of water specifically for adding a few drops of water. I add ice in a pinch, but prefer to just add a few drops of water so it doesnt get too diluted. To each their own though. I am not a Scotch snob. Unless you add Coke to it...

I like mixed drinks. But if I'm putting something with as powerful a flavor as coke in as part of the drink I'm not going to use a real nice liquor.

The only place I really splurge with alcohols I plan to use as a mixer is if I'm making an actual nice cocktail (like a Manhattan or something), or if I'm using a vodka. I used to use the super cheap plastic Jug o' Vodkas for my weekend morning screwdrivers, but I've moved to Tito's. Tito's is just so much nicer that it's worth the price bump.

But yeah, other than that, don't put coke in your nice booze.

Yep! No knocking mixed drinks at all here! I love them too. All depends on my preference at the time. I am on a small Old Fashioned kick right now though. Oh, and Tito's is awesome!
