Imagine calling yourself a Bears and posting multiple tweets and images slobbing the Packers and Aaron Rodgers because you are triggered by a Lions fan.
LOL so homophobic.

Also he appreciates greatness because he's more woke than any of you homophobes.

Lions gonna keep on Lioning. They took GB off life support with that 12 men on the field penalty gifting GB 4 or maybe even 7 pts. Surprised they needed the refs assistance tonight, they can usually crush Detroit fans dreams all by themselves.
Lesson for Bears fans, Stafford throws for over 300 yards every week, Drops, no running game, stupid penalties etc cost them.

3 - Train refs better - Commit to having multiple training sessions. Ideally the pay increase would help offset refs not needing to do college games. The training grounds shouldn't just be the preseason games where they figure out certain things aren't working.
I'm not sure how you can honestly say you know what they're training schedule actually is.

In any event, seems like a decent time to tell any Illinois resident that the IHSA is in need of football officials, and I'd be more than willing to help anyone through the certification process. Certainly this year is shot, but you can get on a jump on next year. Hell, if you're young enough the Chicagoland area consistently churns out Division 1 and NFL referees.

My dad was a high school ref for like 25 years. I would be interested actually.

So if I wanted to get into it next year, what would I have to do? I think I know most rules but would it start with written tests that I would have to prepare for? Then doing JV type games?
Before signing up:
1. Check this website: https://www.iaco-official.org/ . They have free refereeing classes that meet all over the area starting in July. In addition to this, I believe there's a discount on registration fees, and again I believe, free registration to a clinic the first Saturday in August that is great.
2. Search for associations in your area, and email board members (depending on where in the Chicagoland area you live, I can help with this). Most, if not all, offer a mentorship program.
3. Find the youth leagues in your area, and see who the assignor for officials are. Anyone worth their salt will match you up with a group of experienced officials.
4. Attend association meetings.
5. Find a scrimmage. It's live reps.

Honestly, you could find yourself getting prelim games pretty quickly. There are guys that monitor their emails and the assignment website on Fridays and always pick up games. Getting on a crew, and getting varsity games might take some time, but in all honesty it hasn't taken people as long as it has in the past. The only guys I see not getting a consistent varsity game schedule are guys that don't put the work in.

Same old same old with the Packers, always getting the benefit of the doubt from the Zebras. They have always been NFLs’s darlings.

Packers were gifted this one just like we were gifted that Denver game. I don't know if the NFL has officials favor teams in particular but they do seem to favor situations and circumstances.
Trey flowers played with NE for five years using the same technique. Never once was he called for a hands to the face penalty. Not once. Plays for the Lions, gets two in the span of 10 minutes. Tell me there isn't ref bias.............
Is it wrong to want a fair game?

Thanks for this. It's something I have considered before but never though about doing until I had my career figured out better. I might as well go for it now though. Umpired as a kid and liked it. Always like learning the weird technical rules like the fair catch kick and the 1 point safety in college.

FYI, I am in the Lake County area near Gurnee.

Yeah. I could see if he had a bad reputation like Suh did for you. This was just ridiculous. I thought the point of emphasis for hands to the face was more so that initial blunt force to the facemask that the Bears got called for a few times this year already. For 2 phantom calls like this to happen is just crazy. Refs need to be held accountable.

Here's something for ya...

Many posters commenting on the Packers website articles are saying the refs didn't call enough penalties on the Lions.

I feel like a 12 year would stick to this obvious strawman about me calling you gay rather than the actual discussion, because even a 12 year old can tell that he's got no leg to stand on, which is about you claiming you're a Bears fan but also deeply loving (in a platonic way, just so we're clear) the QB of our most hated rival. And using images of that QB to taunt someone after the Packers won a game they shouldn't have - on a Bears board.

Ahhh...See @Anytime23 is up to his old tricks.
