Shanahan or Nagy / Do we have it all wrong?

Most experts consider Shanahan a genius an offensive guru and great innovative HC. His record as HC of the 49er's is 31 - 39.
Nagy is considered an idiot that should be fired immediately and his record with the Bears is 31-24.
Most would say the 49er's have a lot more talent than the Bears.
What am I missing?

Take Vic Fangio away that records is probably upside down by a large margin.. it's 31-25 now btw and trending down.

I do agree that shanahan, as a head coach is vastly overrated.

That top half offense has ended in a less than
.500 overall record for Shanahan....so good for them

Shanahan came within a half quarter of winning a superbowl.

9ers haven't really been healthy since then.

Garapolo hasn't played a complete season since he's been there.

Brain cells.
You talk about how they're regarded offensively and then use a lazy stat like win-loss to make an argument.

How about Kyle Shanahan got to a Super Bowl with a top 5 offense and has a much more established resume as an offensive play-caller. Matt Nagy, a guy who has yet to prove himself as an OC was a WC knockout carried by the leagues #1 D who had an unsustainable amount of takeaways.

Not to mention the Niners play in a division thats way better and last year they had one of the worst injury riddled seasons the league has seen in a long time. Teams are always injured but it was on a level that must be mentioned.

Shanny may be overrated but he's 10 times the offensive coach Matt Nagy could ever dream of being. This isn't debatable and you wont find a single reputable person who covers football that would take Nagy over Shanny.

Shanny just needs to learn to pull his head out of his ass in the playoffs. He’s got every other box checked. They are going to be 10-4 with a 3rd string QB.

I wonder how much is on Shanahan and how much is on Jimmy G being the worst statistical 4th quarter playoff quarterback in the history of the league? For whatever reason, Jimmy G just forgets entirely how to throw the ball in the 4th quarter. It's the ultimate case of the QB YIPS.

I'm pretty convinced that if Jimmy G were even a 'slightly' below average 4th quarter QB that they'd have won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls and heading towards a 3rd. But I'm biased, I've thought they've had the best overall roster every season since 2019 but just been let down by their QBs.

Well Shanny’s playcalling in the Falcons SB was an unforgivable sin. One of the worst halves of playcalling ever
