**** that. Go to the old apartment and pick it up if it is dropped off.

RK is right, if someone does pick it up, and opens it, it is a federal offense. However, prove someone took it.

I have a new in box Iphone 4 that was sent to one of our vacant properties. It was sent ups. If it was sent USPS, I wouldn't have touched it. I also once found final 4 tickets at a vacant property. It is my job to keep the entry way to properties clean. I have to throw that stuff out.

See if Amazon will open a dispute case with USPS.

Dude, was the camera itself bought from Amazon or through a seller on Amazon Marketplace?

The retailer isnt amazon itself, I know that much.

Im going to call usps again today when i get a free moment at work.

Allegedly my package has "USPS Signature Confirmation". Which, upon delivery the image below is supposed to get emailed to me, and according to the image it looks like the package requires a signature.

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
All of the major package companies I've had issues with:

FedEx has an awful habit of just leaving stuff at the doorstep and not dropping it off with the apartment manager like they're supposed to.

UPS has an awful habit of not even coming to the address and checking to see if someone's like they're supposed to and just dropping it off at the apartment manager's office--even if no one's there.

USPS is notoriously unreliable for their Priority international. Their standard international works just fine and never lost a single package (albeit is slow). Express global is expensive as hell but they *actually* track it. Priority international doesn't track and not only have I had packages lost, but one got returned to me that was postmarked in arabic, even though the delivery country was clearly printed "SLOVAK REPUBLIC"

If it's "signature required" and they sign for it, they are liable for said package. My guess they'll refuse it.

Also if they are not home, the USPS driver will leave a little sticky note saying they will re attempt delivery on the following day. I believe they do that three times before they deem the recipient then go into the actual Post Office to pick it up before it is returned to sender.

Theres some light at the end of the tunnel, I went to go to the local post office by my old place (which is a block from it) saw the post man there. Talked to him. He KNEW I didnt live there anymore and put it in a hold box at the post office. Told me to go there and pick it up, then I get there, and the lady says someone put it on another truck that went out at 1pm today WHAT THE ****. So I filled out a form and told them to hold it if it gets back there. Guess what? that half hour long call I had with USPS yesterday, no one ever contacted their local facility about it. Fucking figures, they got off the phone with me and made no attempt to do anything.

Yep, sounds about right for USPS. Close em down.

There's no wonder they are a failing organization.

Many times I have caught our regular delivery guy putting the "we attempted delivery" tag in our box without EVER getting out of his truck to actually "attempt" delivery.

They are bleeding money for many reasons....

See that's the fucked up part. The actual mail carriers in my experience are typically damn good at their jobs.

I think it's very selective. I also think thats what most of my customers would tell you. I would also suggest most "buisnesses" avoid the USPS like the plague. At least the ones I deal with do.

Yeah for a business I'd rather have Fedex or UPS but I've had some really good mail carriers that do a damn fine job

Well when UPS went on strike, going back many years, it left a really bad taste in many businesses mouths so to speak. At that point they were much larger than Fed Ex, IE market share. From that point to now Fed Ex racked up their market share, and at least in technology sales/freight, is by far the most preferred carrier. That said they do such volume on both sides there are still errors, but I would say knowing the volume of packages they handle, for me at least, the issues are reasonable.

I think the individual carrier, IE Postman, UPS, FedEx drivers, are random. There are good ones and bad ones. Just as with every job. The USPS is run so inefficiently, can not make a profit, and bleeds money for a multitude of reasons.

I'd guess I ship about 8 mil a year, and in the high point probably 15 mil a year. Fed Ex is by far my preferred carrier.

Getting packages delivered to me I prefer UPS over Fedex

can depend on the area as well. Some area's UPS fairs better than others. Same with Fed Ex. Most of distribution uses Fed Ex unless other specified by the customer.

There is zero accountability in the USPS. Hired for life, guaranteed pension, why care?

I personally hate that Fedex won't leave packages if no one is home, some people love that. It's a preference thing, to me FedEx and UPS are the same. USPS only really sucks if you have to interact with someone other than the mail carrier.
