My FedEx guy leaves packages, as well as the UPS guy. Receiving shipments, I don't really care. Shipping: FedEx has UPS beat by a mile. When UPS bought Mailboxes Etc. and turned them all into "The Brown Store" they went to shit. All of the independently owned stores charge you for things that UPS used to provide for free, such as airbills. What the **** is that all about? In the city I live (13th largest in the country by population I might add) there isn't even a UPS Shipping facility that is company owned where you can take your package and have it shipped out. They have the UPS Terminal all the way on the opposite side of town from where I live, but the customer "no service" people on the phone told me I couldn't just walk in there with my package and my company's account number and ship a package.

Rant off.

There is zero accountability in the USPS. Hired for life, guaranteed pension, why care?

I agree that there are a lot of people like that in civil service positions, but that is a pretty heavy handed blanket statement.

Update, so remember yesterday, when i said i went to the post office, and they said when it came back they would hold it?

Yeah, ended up going out again today with the mail man, and they told me to fill out the same form i filled out yesterday. I told the lady that, her response: "Thats messed up". Yes, Ma'am, that is messed up. I'm convinced I am wasting my time making efforts to secure my property. The package is in their possession, they tell me they can hold it there, why can they not follow simple directions? So I will go back tomorrow, if that shit has gone out again im gonna say **** it. I mean what are they doing?! are they going to keep going there "he doesnt live here" take it back try and deliver it again, for eternity?! I mean thats what they are doing. They keep attempting to deliver it every day, and I keep telling them to keep it there and I will pick it up, that is apparently beyond their comprehension.

Don't mean to defend them or anything... but think of the average employee's intelligence level that works at the USPS. Also they handle BILLIONS of letters/packages a day and quite frankly I don't think they give two shits about your ONE package.

Fucked up, I know... but no wonder USPS is going down, they can't compete with competent companies like UPS/FedEX.

They could easily send it back to the sender. And you could start all over with the correct delivery address. You could call Amazon and inform that it's the incorrect address and they could call USPS and either change the address and or have it sent back to them to again, start all over.

The "SENDER" has all responsibility until the recipient takes possession. If it doesn't appear you are getting the box tomorrow, call the shipper

Yea but companies like UPS/FED Ex don't do well with envelopes. USPS has it's nitch, unfortunately as a company they suck and can't figure it out.

I did contact the retailer. They told me I can have them send it back to them, but seriously, they obviously cant even listen to me when I tell them to simply hold it at the post office(after filling out a page long form TWICE to do so, I have no reason to believe they would return to sender if I told them to.

Life can really suck sometimes and it always seem like things are 10 times harder than they have to be. Don't lose heart.

Not sure what hours your Post Office has, but ours closes at 12:30 on Saturday so you may want to check so you get there early enough.

yeah everything worked out, eventually.

After repeated requests they eventually stopped trying to deliver it and held it at the post office.
