Actually I do think that. Have watched every Bama game and Anderson rarely shows up big time, same with last years star edge rusher Thibeaux from Oregon in his first year. I saw last night Hurts was the 5th QB taken in his draft. lot's of examples.

it's a low bar, dude. until Fields finds a way to throw for 300 yards a game consistently I think the league and fans of other teams are going to continue to perceive the Bears as being one of the worst teams in the league. the records and scoring metrics aside, they're still not being taken seriously. they've been a solid second half team but I think it's multiple games now where the defense slipped in the 4th quarter. I'm sure trading the better defensive players for picks is the reason for this, but while it may suck in the short term, the team will be better off later.

I'll continue to watch games. whether they win or lose has no bearing on my day, week, month, or year. just try to enjoy yourselves. the flashes being exhibited by a team that was slated to be the worst in the league are actually fun to watch.

Low bar yes, but the premise was play better get better calls and the opposite seems to be the truth, play better and the bad calls get more blatant to fix the outcome.
I don't recall it being perfect during Ortman but it wasn't this bad. The holds on Mack were constant and very blatant, no flags. Now they're ignoring or inventing game changing penalties.

Better than thinking we can ever out play the refs and the blatant BS they get away with even in the highest profile game of all is to accept we are one of the red headed step children the NFL has slated to be bottom of the barrel and embrace it's not whether you win or lose because that is fake, it's how you play the game.

Or do like I did and turn it off when it gets to be too much BS. Not that it does any good because I don't have a ratings box.
