No quite related, but I saw weird sets of lights twice while living in Phoenix. The first was was on A mountain in Tempe. There were these three orbs that moved in every direction and kind of circled around each other until they shot off impossibly fast. The next one was even crazier. I was camping in the mountains to the east of Phoenix. There were 4 of us there. About midnight, the northern sky turned bright red. Then these white beams started shooting up through it like spokes on a bike. Then the white beams would fade out and a new beam would appear somewhere else in the red could. Then the cloud split in two and moved to the ENE and WNW with normal star filled sky between the two. The whole time the beams disappeared and reappeared but only staying in the red cloud. It moved back to the north and finally disappeared. This was over the course of like 1.5-2 hours. Very bizarre. I then heard about weird lights being seen in the Phoenix area on the Letterman show the next night. I went to a house party the next night and some stranger said he saw the exact same thing while he was camped out with his dad that same night.
I am a scientist, so I am searching for a rational explanation, but I havent found anything yet. I have seen the northern lights many times. I work in Alaska and in the Canadian arctic from time to time. Anyone else seen anything like that?
