Yes, some things have been known to be weird over in AZ. Personally, i think they are just military aircrafts, but who knows?

I would say similar in brightness. The color was a little more white than red (may just be the video). But there were only 3 and they would form a somewhat equilateral triangle. Then move slowly and forma a different pattern. They seemed to be many miles away and because there are three they can only make a straight line or tringle of some sort in 3 dimensions. Sometimes one would be moving in one direction and then just stop and move in the opposite. This was probably for about 15 minutes before they disappeared. Lets see...this was...springish of 2001

there were two sets of lights.. the first set was a military craft.. the second were flares.

The shape of aircraft may have been developed back then but I highly doubt they have the same on board equipment as when they were made back then. There is no such thing as dog fighting anymore. Its all beyond visual range technology now. Only difference is who has the longer range or stealthier design.
