I'm highly impressed with Soler's approach at the plate. His pitch recognition is much higher than Baez and Alcantara's. He looks extremely comfortable at the plate at all times. I'm excited about his future!

Baez has always been my favorite prospect (closely with Vogelbach, though I know he may never make it here in Chicago.) That being said I still believe Baez has the absolute highest ceiling. I do however see Soler as possibly ending up the best of the lot because of his poise, pitch recognition, RF defense, and youth.

He doesn't seem overmatched, he's got a smooth yet violent swing that produces plus to plus-plus power. I think I see another version of Justin Upton. Tall, big, strong, athletic and fluid.

Harold Reynolds had an interesting observation about how Cubans have a more sound hitting approach. I guess he was also implying that a lot of players from Puerto Rico and DR don't as much.

I was actually talking to one of my friends about this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know Cubans focus heavily on the fundamentals of any sport with their athletes and in the PR and DR it's the "swinging gets me to the majors" mentality (for the most part)

I think Soler and Russell are the 2 best big leaguers in the Cubs system. Five tool players. Hard to believe most don't see Soler or Baez as one of the Cubs top 2 prospects. I knew Soler would start off on fire, maybe not this good but he is so poised at the plate. Forces a pitcher to throw in the zone since he won't chase.

The future is bright with this one
