Need a pure pass rusher, game wrecker. The team isn’t doing a damn thing without that. DL is full of good players, none great. Qty > Quality so far... Just think if he drafted Verse last year and McMillian or Burden this year. Rome better get on the same page quickly and Poles still looking for Mack replacement 3 years ago.

Odunze had a pretty solid year for a rookie and the third option on the team

But the flaw in this argument is that you'd have had to pick Verse over other DEs in 2024. Verse was certainly considered a very good prospect, but was not the #1 DE on everyone's board.

And this year, had you gone DE in 2024, you're only able to get the WR available to you, and that certainly won't be MacMillan so listing him is not realistic. Is Burden a better prospect than Rome? Nobody is saying so.

When you draft in the Top 10, inevitably you'll pass on guys who are very good and become really good/great NFL players. Picking the draft over a year later is a fan hobby, but GMs don't get to do that. Williams wasn't as great as we hoped in 2024. Imagine fan reaction if he only had Moore and Allen. There would outrage over "not getting him weapons".

When a team needs to fill several positions, a GM has to envision the roster over a number of years, not just the one coming next. The Bears would have been better at DE but would be sitting here with DJ Moore and nobody else.

Both positions are premium and both are costly in FA, so I agree with the importance of drafting a DE or WR when you can, and I hope they draft DE at #10 this year. But the hindsight is unfair and unwarranted.

You might want to look at some of the All 22 for Odunze.

There’s a guy hiding out who is now named @ILoveDick because he underestimated Rome.

It’s pretty simple.

Rome was a great pick and Verse would have been excellent too. There are some interesting guys that could really add value at edge in this draft.

The Bears weren’t going to be a completed project after last offseason no matter how much we as fans hoped for that outcome.

This free agency period and draft should put them in a much better place.

Then factor in the Johnson and Allen effect and it looks even better.

Only 16 mil left in cap space while having zero all-pros on the roster and a rookie QB contract. How is this possible?

Not as a Bear
So you're referencing the cap $ left, which counts the signings they just made, but don't count all pros before the signings?

In other words, no team ever signs an All Pro. Good logic.

What's different in this free agency from last year other than the positions he's added? He traded for an aging vet on his last legs. He overpaid for a solid necessity, then threw money at an over the hill FA and a bunch of other sub par FAs.

I don't care what the media claims, or what Warren or anyone in the FO claims with football exec speak, Kevin Warren is the reason Ben Johnson and a better coaching staff is here.

So far in FA I don't get the big deal at all. This guy doesn't have it. Poles has made stupid move after stupid move and has constantly been patted on the back for it. Why would anything change?

I don't get it.

If you dont care and you cant have your opinion changed on anything why post here?

Clearly you dont get it.

Btw, grady is not "over the hill". Check what his pops did when he was 32/33, he's got a bloodline that proves he can do it at this age
