I really don't want Carlos to go, unless it means gaining some INCREDIBLE pitchers. Quentin has been a hot and cold player who gets in his head too much, causing his mediocre performance from time to time. But when he's on, he's hitting homers and leaping and rolling for right field flies. He sacrifices his body for the game, which a lot of players do, but it shows he's in it to win it. He's a great asset for the White Sox, and one of my favorite players. I'd hate to see him traded, unless the trade-off is great pitching and an AL Championship!

I'm ready to let Quentin go. He gave us one great year and then he fell apart, again. As mentioned, bullpen help is needed.

1) He's mostly been cold, outside of that one season. Though I'm not surprised you base your undying love for an otherwise barely average player off of a single year.

2) He's horrible in the field, at all times. Just brutal. I don't care that you remember those times when he dove for a ball or that he "sacrifices his body", overall he sucks at fielding his position.

i agree on all accounts. but lets remember '08 he was good for like 3 months. I say get him outta here. His defense is offensive

I hope Carlos don't go, however we do need bullpen help and a closer.

Hey everybody, Mr. Gloom and Doom has spoken! It's so funny how he grouses at everyone like a grumpy old man, instead of constructively passing along his "knowledge." All I can hear is Dana Carvey's voice, "in my day...blah, blah, blah!"

I did constructively pass along knowledge, I even put in bullet-point form so you can better understand. Now you (should) know that 1) Carlos Quentin has been decidedly below average throughout his career save for one season and 2) he sucks at defense. Just because reality doesn't agree with out stupid "rainbows and lollipops" outlook is indicative of absolutely nothing with regards to me.

I like quentin, and we all know what is CAPABLE of doing.

However he doesn't do it. At what point do you draw the line? Can't keep under performers on the team based on a wish and a prayer.

As mentioned before, if we get adequate return, he is gone.

im not one to 100% invest myself in sabre, but when his UZR 150 metric is telling you he is a -32.7.......he needs to get out of the outfield.

Yeah, its pretty bad when your a bad OF'er at USCF. But I guess if Quentin isn't out on the field he's a "raging bull" or something stupid like that. With the loss of Worth (sp) I would bet he goes to Philly, but I hope he goes to SD in a deal for Bell.

But I doubt it.

this is from MLBTRADERUMORS.com

SATURDAY,1:40pm: White Sox GM Kenny Williams is hoping for a "Carlos Lee-type return" in a deal for Quentin, a scout confirmed to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times (via Twitter). The White Sox sent Lee to Milwaukee following the 2004 season for Scott Podsednik, Luis Vizcaino, and a player to be named later (Travis Hinton).

Kenny is fooling himself if he thinks the kind of return he got from the Brewers for Carlos Lee is what he can get for Quentin. For all intents and purposes he's going to be selling low on Quentin, whereas with Lee he was shipped off after his best year in the MLB.
