Timonen against the Bolts speed is a scary thought.

Agreed.... I am not happy about the idea either. That said, this move should have happened during Game 2 just to be on the safer side, not during a critical Game 4.

I predict at least 1 goal this game where the Lightning catch Timmonen out there and blow past him for a goal.

It will probably happen 3-4 times and they will score once and then Q will bench Timmonen.

At least he's got last change. TVR can log some serious minutes, they can go five deep if need be.

I hear they've got some good popcorn in the press box, Bigfoot.

Well at least bigfoot can get drunk on moonshine tonight

Bickell out is surprising

Hopefully being in the SCF Finals sparks Kimmo a bit. If he can only play 4 minutes that's going to put the Blackhawks in a tough spot

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Will be interested to see how Timmo plays against a team that's not going to impale him on the boards every time he touches the puck like ANA did. Could get a better performance out of him. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.
The flipside, as was mentioned, is that Timmo's skating speed is measured in geological epochs. If he makes another Ill-advised pinch he'll likley ger burned like Richard Pryor.
Good talk.

Also, Duncan Keith missed the morning skate but no one's expecting him to miss the game tonight because he's likely not human.
Agreed. I'm just waiting for the press conference where he states that he is <ahh-nult> a cybernetic organism--living tissue over metal endoskeleton</ahh-nult>

I think it is inevitable

Anytime Cumisky was on the ice it was scary....had his chances and looked like shit. I'd try Kimmo at this time. At least he has a brain.

Cumisky would be great if it was a speed skating competition, but unfortunately it's not.

Don't know about you guys but I was incredibly excited when they acquired Timonen. His reputation as a puck-moving defenseman seemed like a perfect fit for what the Hawks do. A lot of that excitement came from JenLC on Twitter, who always touted the skills of Timonen in the past few seasons. I believe he was still one of the best possession-driving Dmen last season, even at the age of 39.

Feels like I've only seen a few rare flashes of that ability this postseason. I keep holding out hope that he'll find a fountain of youth -- and maybe he'll get it tonight -- but I'm nowhere near optimistic that he's going to find out in Game 4 of the SCF.

He's the 6th dman. Not sure why people (not you specifically) get all worked up over it.

Third-pairing defensemen strike me as hockey's own version of the sports player that you're only going to hate. It's like a closer in baseball or the No. 2 corner on a football team. The only time you notice them is when they **** up.

Makes Brent Sopel cry! NOBODY MAKES SOPEL CRY!

I think Sopel did raise the bar for third pairing blueliners though. Was Sopels only flaw..he raised the ba r way to high. Unrealistically high. Everyone suffers as a third pair guy now.

And is it okay to miss Rozi now ?

It's his age, his lack of playing last year, but mostly, his health, unfortunately, that have led to his downturn.

Missed Rozi from the day he went down. Other than a few early ****-ups against Nashville, I thought he played rather well this postseason. Certainly good enough for a 5th/6th Dman.

That was the kicker for me not liking the deal at the time. Lack of games played. Everything else about Timo was great but yah not playing a single game all year, blood clots rang to me as someone who wasnt going to walk onto the hawks roster and make an impact. There were other third pairing blueliners out there who would have been more reasonable without the gamble. Hawks certainly didnt need an experienced vet either on the blueline. Had 5 already so i dont buy into the idea that timos experience was an asset for the team. Have 4 blueliners sitting on the roster with 2 cups and another guy with 1 at the time. There is still some baffling idea out there that the Hawks are a young roster. Its not. Probably no team in the league right now with more playoff experience. Kings perhaps are the exception.
