Yes but if they pick Kopitar, no reason for that team to have changed since Kopi didn't play and with the 3rd pick instead of Toews, they could of picked Phil Kessel.... You could of got a Kopi/Kessel combo instead of Toews/Kane.
I wouldn't alter Toews/Kane and 1 Cup for the who knows in that scenario though.

Yeah. I mean we can evaluate things in the past, but you make one different move and maybe the Hawks don't win that one cup.
Toews is a great captain and I'm glad the Hawks have him.
Could Kessel/Kopitar be better than Toews/Kane? Yeah maybe. But I wouldn't change a thing that happened in the past. Gotta focus on making it work in the future.

Because they still had Tuomo Ruutu and they'd just drafted Bolland very early in the 2nd round. That's three centers already, chances of them adding a 4th weren't very high.
Complaining about draft picks made four years before a team won the championship is pointless. Meatball-ish, even.

Let's draft a top line center and then draft a top line center!!!
Like DMelt mentioned, they would already have had 3 centers. No reason to draft a top line center like Toews.

Well, the thing about that is, the Pittsburgh Penguins drafted 3 in a row: Crosby, Malkin, Staal. Worked out well for them, too.

It worked for the Pens because they needed centers for the top three lines. But Staal really doesn't like being the 3C and would much rather be 2C.

So true. I think he'd be really happy in Chicago. If the Hawks can get Staal and some bottom 6 help and some defense I think they might have a nice shot.
