Incredible shot by Carter to end the game. Game 3 should be fun.

I don't think they'll sweep so I'd have to say that they lose one at home. NJ is too good to sweep despite this.

In most playoffs, by the time you get to the Cup Final, it's obvious which team is simply destined to win the Cup in that season. Things just seem to go their way and they always seem to score a goal at the right time

This year, it's the Kings. Devils got no chance. I'll be surprised if NJ gets another home game.

They will win in 5 :D

Captain Serious thinks they'll win the series in 3 since they're loaded with all that "talent"

LOL 3 games. haha.

They are pretty talented though as we discussed before.... take hawks defense all day, but i will take goalie and the lines of kings over hawks. They are much more balanced than the hawks, and the talent spreads farther down than just a line and a half.

We'll see what happens to that team in the offseason and if they can keep that balance going forward. Relatively speaking, it's easy to win the first Cup. The 2nd Cup? Now that's a challenge. Just ask Pittsburgh. And Chicago. And Boston. And every team since 1998.

I agree. I said yesterday i was curious on how this team will look after this run. probably a lot different.

Penner, Stoll, Parse and Fraser are UFAs. By the new cap projections of $70 million, they've got about $16 million to play with.

Penner ($4.25 mil) and Stoll ($3.6 mil) could cash in even more on this year's Cup run in the offseason, and those contracts certainly aren't cheap.

But one big obstacle they have coming up is Quick's contract. He's making $1.8 million on his current deal which expires in 2013. I'd say he's due for a raise, eh?

Don't imagine that Doughty ($7 million thru 2019), Carter ($5.272 million thru 2022), or Richards ($5.75 million thru 2020) will be going anywhere in the near future.

Dmelt said something about you usually know who is gonna win the cup by this time.

Who did you think would win it last year?

I think it's kind of funny that everyone is forgetting that the Canucks took a two game lead in the first two games last year too. Granted, it was at home and not away and could've gone either way. But isn't that true for these games?

Not saying that the Kings are going to lose the series, because they're gonna win. But don't crown them just yet.

:dennis:

Have you seen the LA Kings have a full mental breakdown on the ice and start taking a billion penalties? Have you seen their goalie get benched in favor of a backup at any point in the playoffs?

There are numerous reasons why the Canucks were a small implosion away from losing the series, and it happened. Right around the time Burrows started biting people.

I've seen no such evidence from the Kings.

The faster this is over, the better as it gets Pierre McGuire to leave my TV.

Heh

The Kings are doing it primarily with size, "sack" (board battlez and stuffz :D) and top notch tending. Tie that into a solid system that I shuddered to give Sutter credit, and away they go. I agree they have a decent balance, but I still think the scales are more so tipped towards will over skill. This is not an abundantly skilled team, although they have some talent in crucial positions (tender and somewhat at center).

I think that this year is just proof that if you have a solid, but not overly great defense. Some stars in the forward position. And a veeerrrrryyy good goaltender then you can win the cup.

The key is goaltending. I really think that's what the Hawks are missing.
